Republicans Look to Compromise The Supreme Court, Avoid Controversy in Election Year
Freedom Outpost ^ | July 8, 2018 | Dean Garrison

Posted on 07/08/2018 3:32:58 PM PDT by Cheerio

In recent days, there has been a strong media push for Raymond Kethledge to be Trump’s choice to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Judge Kethledge is currently a Circuit Judge for the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was nominated by George W. Bush in 2007 and confirmed a year later.

The Sixth Circuit has a reputation for not only being too liberal, but being so liberal that they are reversed more often than any other court. According to Mark Walsh of ABA Journal:

Conservatives decry the 9th Circuit’s perceived liberal bent. As candidates for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, Newt Gingrich practically recommended abolishing the circuit, while Rick Santorum suggested that its judges be banished to Guam.

But more recently, another federal circuit has reigned as the most reversed. The 6th Circuit, based in Cincinnati, has had a particularly dismal record before the high court. In the seven Supreme Court terms completed since the fall of 2005, the 6th Circuit has been reversed 31 out of 38 times, for an 81.6 percent reversal rate, based on figures compiled by two Philadelphia lawyers. That leads all the federal circuits for that time period, with the 9th Circuit coming in as the second most reversed—100 out of 128 cases, or 78.1 percent.

Lets hope that Trump does not go along with them. If the USSC is corrupt against the Constitution then everything is lost. So much has been lost because of them already.

there are times and issues where compromises make good sense

or at least are not super-harmful...

restoring the out-of-control, communistic- ideologic Supreme Court to lawfulness now... is not one of these

“You no backbone douchebags.”

You do know there is nothing in this blog post that remotely corroborates anything they are yammering about?

You are right.

Our “friends” the people we elected are either RINOs or so passive and compromising that they can get along really well at elite cocktail parties and laugh at George Will’s jokes with him, while Wolf Blitzer and Jake Tapper go into hysterics. Politician swamp elites for in for the long term. Sick.

Libertarian Robert J.Ringer in one of his books said lawyers and prosecutors after you lose your case and thousands of dollars and possibly your freedom, can be seen if you look at the back of the room a few minutes later, with one arm around each other’s shoulders laughing and talking together. Why? This case meant everything to you and your life. To them it is just one case and they will meet again dozens of times, several more before the same judge. No use making the judge mad at them or the opponent mad, either. They’ll battle over another client and may or may not win that time. You re just screwed, but so what?

The GOPe doesn’t get to pick the nominee. Trump does, and as much as the GOPe are jackarses. They know, right now, that to defy Trump openly is political suicide. They will vote to confirm whoever the nominee is

“The Sixth Circuit has a reputation for not only being too liberal, but being so liberal that they are reversed more often than any other court. ”

I thought the 9th on the West Coast got that distinction.

Republicans aren't compromising to avoid controversy, they're trying to protect their Democrat friends' jobs.

The question becomes whether Kethledge agreed or disagreed with the reversed decisions.
