Bill and Cathy Stapp stand on the deck of their sailboat Kruzin Kitty in Alameda. After being told they were eligible for the Covered California health care plan, they learned their income was too high to qualify for subsidized coverage

I don't have a sailboat. So their $80,000 annual income disqualified them from transferring income from me to subsidize their medical insurance. I am 66 still working and have not tapped into my Social Security benefits because I know it would be taxable income.
Medishare is the answer, My neighbor was at $4100 a month, went to $1700 under Medishare
Obama had distribution of wealth in stuffed in everything
What’s the PROBLEM? Just SELL the SAILBOAT!
The problem with anything provided by government is the complex and vague paperwork. Often, the government uses words that mean one thing to the government and something else to a citizen. Insurance is complex enough without some bizarre financing scheme that requires not just a CPA, but one versed in that particular vernacular to understand.
When O. care first started I checked out the paper mache plan. Insurance was $8000 per year but nothing was covered until I’d spent $10,000 from my own pocket. I recently had an operation. I was able to negotiate the whole thing down to a few thousand dollars. Had I been “covered” by insurance, my out of pocket would have been several times what I paid by not having insurance.
Incidentally, if you need medical tests, you can take your list to directlabs.com. Because you pay cash in advance, there is a hefty discount. You then go to the provider listed in your area to have the work done. In my case, it’s Quest, the same lab I’d have gone to in anyway.
Of course he did. Bankrupt the country. Bankrupt the citizens. Push transgender and gay marriage. Set the country even more so on the road to anti-Christ ways.
This is how you destroy a nation. A boatload of fools to empower and support a Manchurian Candidate. This man is a tool of the Evil One. He has given him power and wealth for a short time.
When I got a (doomed from the get-go) job one major company sent a rep down to present the healthcare plans to us. Most of us from management were in that first meeting.
I added up the premiums and the deductibles in my head rather quickly. I repeated the numbers back to her.
$5000 per year in premiums and $12,000 in deductibles.
So I’m out $17,000 before anything starts to be covered? Correct?
She said, yes, you are correct.
Great job, liberals. Really great job. Tell us once again how smart you are. Tell us again how you’re smarter than the rest of us.
“When O. care first started I checked out the paper mache plan. Insurance was $8000 per year but nothing was covered until Id spent $10,000 from my own pocket.”
And that hair on the turd Roberts decided O was okay with him.
I’m a bit younger than you, but I earned a good bit more last year than I had anticipated when I did my W-4s. Needless to say, I wrote a hefty check to the IRS, and greatly increased my withholding to avoid penalties for this year.
But, then again, I can’t afford a sailboat, either.
When I got into boats an old Cap'n told me I had "best be cool around them blow-boats.
They're deadly accurate with an empty wine bottle!".. Hehehe. d;^)
“Tell us once again how smart you are. “
Well, actually, they were pretty smart. It was never about insurance. There were several ways to insure the uninsured without taking over and upending one fifth of the nation’s economy. It was about control. I read some of the original documentation on O. care and one of the provisos, just like in Canada and the UK, was that people could have their coverage cancelled by name, as individuals, by the government. Notice that there are few people who speak out about how terrible care is in Canada and the UK. If that’s not a control mechanism that could be used to stop anybody criticizing the government, then I don’t know what is.
On the good side, it was one of the dramatic overreaches that gave us President Trump. We’d probably never have had Nixon without LBJ, or Reagan without Carter. We almost certainly wouldn’t have had Trump without Obama. Our politics swings like a pendulum from one extreme to another. It must drive our allies crazy. Hopefully, we’ll have 16 years of conservative anti-regulatory government.
Also on the good side, I suspect that a combination of abysmal education will result in a revolution of AI led, internet based, education at home. That will be a nail in liberalism’s coffin.
Yup lol
For later.
Medical care is easily affordable for those that actually PAY for it, My Doctor does everything for about 1/5 the “Insured price” because I PAY FOR IT, johnny on the spot!!! and it costs him Nothing to process any paperwork or forms.
Whats the PROBLEM? Just SELL the SAILBOAT!
Ha! Im BUYING a sailboat with all of the money Ive saved since Obamacare kicked in. Oh, wait...never mind.
"This is a ripoff!" he said.
I knew he had some chronic medical issues, so I asked him how much his average annual medical bills were I've the last couple of years. He said: "About $50,000."
"Damn right it's a ripoff," I said ... "for ME. You're making out like a bandit here!"
But with that being said, the Sans-A-Belt leisure class wing of the GOP needs to get health care costs under control in the next two years...or the Democratic House and Senate will gladly do it for them in 2021. Just sayin.
“went to $1700 under Medishare”
Still too high by a factor of ten for us. My premium before Obamacare was $17 — factor of 100.
I don’t think they were too smart. Everyone will be jeopardized by this thing.
BTW, I worked in a place where we provided (administered) state-coverage to the poor for 2 states. We were bought out. Knowing I’d be on the street, I encouraged some of the group of the new owners (Centene) to keep us intact and just take the profits. The CEO walked by my desk and said hello to me (first I knew something was up).
They just patted me on the head and had a little chuckle about my suggestion.
Within 2 years, they’d screwed the whole thing up and lost the contracts.
But, hey, what did I know? They pretty much just shook their heads at my suggestion.
