Pentagon Says It’s Not Purging Immigrant Recruits, Contrary to Reports

The Pentagon said Friday that contrary to what an Associated Press report has suggested, there are no new changes to a program for immigrants to gain U.S. citizenship through military service. The Associated Press reported on Thursday evening that some “U.S. Army reservists and recruits who enlisted in the military with a promised path to citizenship are being abruptly discharged.”

However, the Pentagon said there have been no new policies or guideline changes to prompt any discharges from the program. Rather, any discharges are based on initial security screening of each candidate.

The Army could not comment on specific persons mentioned in the AP’s story due to privacy issues and pending litigation, but released a statement on Friday in response.

“Department of Defense and Army policy require all recruits to undergo a suitability review as part of the military accessions process. One aspect of the suitability review is a security screening,” Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Nina Hill said.

“When they abuse that right and even distort it; don’t we the people have the right to demand they be accountable?”

How could it be otherwise?

“Enough infractions and they should lose their press privileges in my humble opinion.”

Enough infractions and they should be marched up the gallows, in my humble opinion.

After working in and around the military for close to 40 years I’ve also always noticed that immigrant Soldiers & Sailors were afforded every opportunity to advance and to gain citizenship. Commands even sponsored citizenship classes so that they could get their studies done in a timely fashion and go through the proper procedures for citizenship. It was never a “give me” program. It was always and has always been a program where the legal proceedings to gain citizenship were facilitated.

I get the feeling a few of these articles on the subject over the last couple days suggest that it is a hand out, it’s not. It is a lawful process.

Exactly!

Just another attempt to vilify Trump by casting a long-standing process as some new racist attack.

They can blow all the smoke they want; more and more liberals are seeing the Leftists for what they are. I work with many black liberals and, in some ways, they are more hardcore anti-immigration than me!

Keep it up MSM—fences are breaking down all across the plantation.

There's a problem with the amount immigrants we now let in. We have a huge population these days, and we shouldn't be letting in anyone unless we actually need them. Our stupid legal immigration system is even more of a problem than our illegal immigration problem.

Washington’s standing army consisted of mostly Irish immigrants and British turncoats and were assisted by the French Army and Navy. They did a good job.
