The Pentagon said Friday that contrary to what an Associated Press report has suggested, there are no new changes to a program for immigrants to gain U.S. citizenship through military service. The Associated Press reported on Thursday evening that some “U.S. Army reservists and recruits who enlisted in the military with a promised path to citizenship are being abruptly discharged.”
However, the Pentagon said there have been no new policies or guideline changes to prompt any discharges from the program. Rather, any discharges are based on initial security screening of each candidate.
The Army could not comment on specific persons mentioned in the AP’s story due to privacy issues and pending litigation, but released a statement on Friday in response.
“Department of Defense and Army policy require all recruits to undergo a suitability review as part of the military accessions process. One aspect of the suitability review is a security screening,” Army spokeswoman Lt. Col. Nina Hill said.

Great! So if a civil war takes place in America perpetuated by a rogue government, I cannot count on the fact that the military will not fire on American citizens because they are our brothers/sisters, sons/daughters, mothers/fathers. Rather, there is a strong likelihood that I will be fighting foreign nationals who don’t give a damn about American citizens, and would not think twice about wasting them—they might even enjoy it.

If they are turned down for security reason (like who could not see that coming?) the press will paint Trump as anti-immigrant....
How many AMERICAN citizens don’t get to join the US military? Ask any recruiter - about 75% do not get to join due to various reason (physical, medical, legal, education, SECURITY ISSUES, etc.)

This is a country built on the premise that people have rights that precede any government, and which no government may violate.
However, I like to wonder if those include the right to knowingly and maliciously deceive people with the intent of harming them.
The question is relevant, because that is exactly what the media do: they knowingly and maliciously deceive us with the intent of harming us.
I think we could pass laws against that without violating the First Amendment.
Lighten up, Francis. This policy of inducting foreign nationals is decades old. The Pentagon is actually confirming here that they keep an eye on them and give them the boot if they appear to be a security concern.
Enlisting has been a path to citizenship since we’ve been a country. It’s a legal, honorable method for people to serve the country that welcomes them. These people have the same standards as all recruits. The fact that people are vetted and discharged if there are problems means the system works.
In case you aren’t aware, most legal immigrants have a better understanding of our nation’s history and the opportunities than the vast majority of college “graduates.” America is the land of opportunity and we should always welcome those who embrace our values.
How could a practicing Muslim take the oath required when you are sworn into any of the Armed services??
When I was in basic/ait half didn’t make it and about 5% were held for next cycle. There was people in the immigrant program then too and those who didn’t make it was due to not passing test they put us through.
Exactly - All immigrants are legally in this country. They have Permanent Resident status - “green card”, or have some other legal classification. Refugees are not immigrants, just “refugees.” and most likely have another allegiance.
Illegal aliens should never be inducted into the military and should never be eligible for citizenship, IMO.

A perfectly relevant question. Freedom of the press is about more than the 1st Amendment. The press has extra latitude to bring the "truth" to the people. When they abuse that right and even distort it; don't we the people have the right to demand they be accountable?
The only thing that will get their attention to force them into telling the truth and stopping the lies are things like fines and suspension of press privileges. Enough infractions and they should lose their press privileges in my humble opinion.
Just like doctors, lawyers, and police have to police themselves; so should the journalism profession to maintain a certain level of integrity. What good is a new publication that can't be trusted to be honest. CNN, for instance, comes to mind.

Thousands of Chicago motorists had their right to free passage revoked on Saturday due to yet another leftist public temper tantrum.
Anti-gun activists with an assist from the Reverend Jesse Jackson successfully blocked off all northbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway in a show of force that had the tacit blessing of Mayor Rahm Emanuel despite the inconvenience to his citizens. It was the latest example of how the political left has embraced punitive tactics against innocent people to intimidate officials into caving to their demands.
The expressed purpose of the highway blockage was to make a statement about the city’s horrific murder rate which has been driven by black on black violence and street gangs. Had it only been a protest to call for a stop to the bloodshed it would have had a legitimate basis (but no reason to block a major roadway) but as is so often the case with the organized weekly temper tantrums of the post-Obama era, there were demands for more “resources” for communities of color as well as better schools and more jobs although it stopped short of a call for reparations. The protest was at least initially to have only blocked a part of the road but city officials caved and the entire northbound section was temporarily impassable. The marchers were bussed in for the occasion.
