When the conversation turned to the question of whether Nancy Pelosi should be the next speaker of the House, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez proposed an alternative.
Instead of maintaining the status quo in the House Democratic Caucus, the most talked-about Democratic congressional nominee of 2018 told a reporter, “I’d like to see new leadership, but I don’t even know what our options are. I mean, is Barbara Lee running? Call me when she does!”
That was a knowing response from a savvy Democrat, who became the face of a progressive surge within the Democratic Party after her June 26 primary defeat of Congressman Joe Crowley, the party’s fourth-highest-ranking leader in the House. Crowley was widely seen as a contender to replace House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and in the event of a Democratic takeover of the chamber, the speakership.

IIRC an Asian play by play announcer with the dreaded Lee last name was removed from calling play by play of a sports event because his last name was Lee.

I recall when obama was a nobody nothing from Chicago being promoted to run for president. I thought NO WAY! I recall when obama was going for the DNC nomination, I thought NO WAY! I recall when this jackass actually ran for prez, I thought NO WAY! Then after 4 years of totally wrecking the country, and up for reelection, I thought NO WAY!
Based on the above experience, do not be at all surprised if if this little sweetie is promoted just like obama and pushed up the ladder as far as they can. In 2020 she could be running for prez, and win, qualified or not.

Make no mistake, if the rats win there is no chance Pelosi will be displaced, none, certainly not from someone even further to the left with their Majority dependent on new suburban members.
If (when) they lose then there might be serious opposition to her continuing as Minority Leader.
A “Progressive” is newspeak for a Communist. I figured that out in the mid 1990s. Allen West was exposing that when the “Progressives” voted him out of a South Florida seat in the House. He moved to Texas thereafter.

I was thinking that Shelia Jackson Lee would be a great choice if Nancy or Mad Maxine weren’t available.
Why not Angela Davis? Go for it, Dems.
Barbara Lee is consistently anti-War, no matter who is president. This sets her apart from most of the so-called progressives.
They do have a deep bench.
