Friday on his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh advised his listens to ignore the media hype because President Donald Trump is tapping into voters concerns about immigration.
Partial transcript as follows (courtesy of RushLimbaugh.com):
LIMBAUGH: Let me run through these immigration numbers again. Department of Homeland Security Press Secretary Tyler Houlton said in a statement, Following the implementation of the administrations zero-tolerance policy, the June 2018 Southwest Border Migration numbers declined by 18% when compared to the previous month, This is, of course, illegal immigrants attempting to get in the country in the southwest border down 18% because of the zero-tolerance policy.
Reuters has a story. This is from earlier this morning. Its a poll. Its a Reuters/Ipsos poll. Immigration tops the economy and health care as the most important issue determining Americans vote ahead of the midterm elections in November, a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll shows. Reuters/Ipsos data shows that immigration became a top concern for registered voters in the United States after the Trump administration in May announced its zero tolerance policy on illegal immigrants, saying they would be criminally charged.
Uh, actually, the zero-tolerance policy was announced April 7th of 2018. Sessions was acting after a Department of Homeland Security report found that illegal border crossing increased 203% from March 2017 to March 2018. And then Reuters says here, The policy became a political lightning rod in mid-June with disclosures that thousands of children were separated from their parents who were accused of crossing illegally into the country. Wrong again.
It only became a lightning rod when the media decided to lie about it all and claim that Trump zero-tolerance policy separated children from their parents for months. It does not! It never did! Children were only separated while their parents were booked, and this predates....

“Media hype” is a mild way of stating media lies and hysteria.
Yes, winning.
The vast majority of voters want our borders controlled and immigration limited.
its tough being right
The Dems care more about Mexicans than Americans.
The Democrats care about no one. They simply see the Mexicans as as future Democrat voters who will expand their base.
Media hype = gaslighting
Rush is right.
Voters do not want illegal invasion of their homes or of their country.
Media hatred of Trump has driven the morons populating it to endorse crime.t
75% of the citizens have always wanted the borders secured and the laws enforced.
We were blocked from doing anything about it by Bush League Republicans colluding with Democrats to keep the borders open and the laws unenforced.
Bush League Republicans must become extinct before the Republic does.
Don’t forget that Rush endorsed Rubio as being a “full-throated” conservative AFTER he his Gang of Amnesty activities, so Rush is NOT always right.
He does not recognize the enemy within.
Ate at our favorite Mexican restaurant last night. It has a typically all Latino staff. There was a new waiter...
...an English-speaking (no accent) white guy.
“He [Rush] does not recognize the enemy within.”
Rush has a dilemma with respect to the RINO Republicans. He has knows many of them on a social and insider basis. He engages with them frequently in non-public venues - golfing, telephone conversations, private social events, and even off the record visits in their homes. He has been particularly friendly with Bush family.
His personal relationships allow him to influence politicians and policy makers behind the scenes as well as receive insider information about the workings and machinations of the movers and shakers. If Rush were to directly attack these figures daily on his show, he would be cut off from most of his inside information sources as well as a significant part of his social life. Rush has made an accommodation with the upper echelon of the power establishment that works to his benefit as well as theirs.
As to Rubio specifically, Marco Rubio is the only Republican senator from Florida, Rush’s state of residence. Rubio is also young senator with influence greatly exceeding that of most junior US senators due to his national prominence, close association with the GOP inner circle, and the importance of Florida’s electoral votes. Here again Rush can influence Rubio more behind the scenes than he can by attacking him directly in public on the radio.
Today Rush enjoys nurturing his inside relationships and tones down his message to preserve these relationships. In effect he is compromised and the softening of his show over the decades speaks to him moving from an outside voice challenging power to an accommodation with the brokers of power. Personally I enjoyed Rush’s show in the early years (1980’s and 1990’s) when he was a hungry young outsider trying to build an audience. Today he is a comfortable ultra wealthy media pundit who enjoys the good life which includes hobnobbing with the wealthy and powerful.
The Rush of 2018 is no longer a revolutionary. He enjoys his expensive cigars and private golf games with the movers and shakers more than he enjoys upsetting the applecart. The days of the “Rush to Excellence” tours, Dan’s bake sale, and cruises where Rush rubbed elbows with his growing audience are long gone. His increasingly frequent absences from his show are likely associated with private events where he mingles with the elites he once enjoyed satirizing.
Did he offer you a burger and fries?
He does not recognize the enemy within.
And remember that Rush flew up here to NYC to have dinner with the Gang of Eight to be influenced to stifle criticism of amnesty. If you have forgotten, the Gang of Eight is comprised of: Marco Rubio, Jeff Flake, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Dick Durbin, Robert Menendez, Chuck Shumer and Robert Bennet. Read that list a couple of times and let it sink in.
Rush, of course, never told his listeners of the meeting until it was revealed by the NYT.
I have never trusted nor listened to Rush since!
Rubio, a full-throated conservative - indeed.
When we eat at Mexican restaurants, we like to see Mexican cooks and Mexican diners. That way, we know they’re authentic.
I would hope, however, that the Mexican staff and diners are legal immigrants. There are plenty of legal immigrant Mexicans to staff every Mexican restaurant.
I guarantee that if millions of White South Africans flooded the southern border fleeing racist genocide in their homeland and demanded asylum the dems would want ICE strengthened.
I “tried” listening to Rush yesterday and was reminded why I can’t stand him anymore.
Rush was going to play a clip from Trump’s rally. BUT WAIT! and wait, blah, blah, blah, here’s the clip, ...but first let me explain, blah, blah, blah.
OMG! What a douche! Diarrhea of the mouth and he didn’t say anything of value.
We’ve been eating at this particular restaurant for over 20 years. Great food, used to be cheap, mostly authentic. But, seeing a white Anglo waiter there surprised me. First thing I thought of...were they having trouble getting “authentic” legal help? The wife said the Anglo was their “token” (you see why I love her).
Now, if we wanted “maximum authentic” Mexican, we go to this little dive over in the area that has pretty much gone immigrant. Most of the customers don’t even speak English. Good, cheap food. I love that place.
