Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch may have offered a clue about who President Donald Trump will nominate to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court left by retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, days ahead of the planned announcement on Monday.
In a Friday op-ed article for Deseret News, a prominent newspaper in Hatch's home state of Utah, the longtime Republican lawmaker wrote a defense of the coming nominee amid a highly polarized and evenly split Senate.
"Too much is at stake to allow politics to corrupt the Supreme Court confirmation process," Hatch wrote. "That's why in the coming weeks, I will lift heaven and earth to see the president's nominee across the finish line."
The op-ed was notable for one reason: Hatch referred to the nominee using the pronouns "her" and "she."

Trump apparently got Gorsuch right, Sessions WRONG (but also “apparently” as he could still fool us and start arresting people), Rosenstein Wrong, Pruitt right but lost him, TREX Wrong, Mattis dubious, Ponpeo right, Wray WRONG.
So, strictly based on results, he gets an A. Because the SC pick outweighs all others combined.
I just wish he would replace some of his underlings and start doing better on “appointees”. And, I just pray he doesn’t F this most important pick ever up.
I know Mike Lee was in the anti-Trump camp along with Cruz. But he always stood by Cruz even before the election.
When I researched Mike’s past aad present, one thing stood out, the man is 100% true to the Constitution and has a vast knowledge of constitutional history.
Pense met with Cruz about Mike Lee as Supreme Justice. Cruz endorsed Lee and Lee said he would not say no to his selection.
My bet’s on Mike not because I like him or think he’s divine, etc, and not even so much that he’s a true constitutionalist. I think he could be selected because ...
IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT FOR THE SENATE TO DENY HIS CONFIRMATION.
Lizzie Warren, aka Pocahontas, will not be pleased, LOL.
Trump is the grand master of leaving rabbit trails for the media to follow.
Maybe it’ll be Kethledge, since Don Jr. knows him and has gone hunting with him.
“since Don Jr. knows him and has gone hunting with him.”
I certainly hope that would not be considered a qualification.:-)
Good night——I can hardly see,FRiend.
.
And Lee was NEVER in consideration; thank GOD!!!
Pssssssssssssssssst...and Lee has gotten all kinds of other things wrong as well; he's utter garbage and you are 100%, damned dead wrong about both Lee and Cruz and Pence meeting with Lee re the now empty SCOTUS seat!
Good night, sleep tight....pleasant dreams.
Obama heard FINAL FOUR and thought that meant he needed to fill out a bracket.
He could handle all the lawsiouxts.
I didn't even think of that, as I was typing.
I’m going to pick Kethledge. All of the head fakes today were Barrett and Kavanagh, so it’s probably Kethledge. Solid conservative from the Midwest, and not of Ivy League stock...which is a plus. He’s least likely to go squishy on the USSC.
Eh,maybe Hatch is just screwing with the liberals heads, even old Orrin likes to have fun.
Trump may have wanted to plant seeds of multiple possible hints so as to keep the buzz on this through the weekend. E.g., there is also a report that he supposedly tipped his hand to some contacts that it will be Kavanaugh. I wouldn’t be shocked to see some reason to believe it might Kethredge (sp?) floated elsewhere by tomorrow.
Anyone liked by those 2 should not be appointed
LOL! That ship sailed years ago.
Hunting reveals more about a person than hours of congressional testimony does. The only people that I truly trust are ones that I have been hunting with more than once. If they don’t pass the first time out they don’t get a second chance.
Ug! (get it?) Ug...
