WASHINGTON Charges have been dropped against the remaining defendants arrested in the wake of violent protests on Inauguration Day 2017.
The U.S. Attorneys Office for the District of Columbia said in a statement Friday that they believe evidence shows that a riot occurred on January 20, 2017, during which more than $100,000 in damage was caused, and that 21 people have pleaded guilty for their actions that day, including one felony.
In light of the results in the cases brought to trial, however, the U.S. Attorneys Office has now moved to dismiss charges against the 39 remaining defendants in this matter, the statement said.
The U.S. Attorneys Office previously announced the dismissed charges for 38 remaining defendants, but a second motion to dismiss charges for the 39th defendant was filed later Friday.

Welp... if you were hoping for Jeff Sessions and his Department of Justice to impose some justice against violent leftist rioters, it looks like you hoped wrong. Let's not downplay what this means - it means that leftists can assault and riot against any sort of conservatives, Trump protestors, etc. and will officially not be punished by the government for doing so. A rather grim turn of events. I advise people to take note of this, and to be prepared. Take all appropriate precautions now that you know FOR SURE that not even the federal government has any interest in defending in your first amendment rights.

If over 100,000 in damages occurred, how come only one felony?

Our side needs to pick out a uniform color (black is already taken by Antifa and ISIS) and show up to rallies in uniform with masks and helmets. If the government can’t prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it was YOU who hit that Prog in the head with a sign that was stapled to a 1.5 inch thick hickory pole, then you walk away free.

It’s still the Holder Just Us Department.
The founders tried to prevent all of this by excluding the children of foreign nationals, but BOTH political parties wanted the natural protections of the natural born citizen requirement eliminated.

A civilian review board said in February 2017 that the D.C. police violated their own procedures for preserving protesters First Amendment rights, including the use of pepper spray and ball-like grenades that spray rubber pellets. What about the constitutional rights of the many Americans who wanted to freely assemble on the DC mall to witness the inauguration of DJT but were prevented from doing so because of the presence of these rioters. In 2020 we can expect even worse rioting by these bullies on the left.

But but but......assaulting people and destroying property is another form of political expression. As long as it’s expressed by the left.

- WIN:There were 21 guilty pleas and one felony.
- WIN:There were a lot of protestors who had their lives disrupted by being arrested, having to post bail, having to mount a defense.
- WIN:Given that they were losing in court for lack of evidence, the prosecutors shouldn't waste our money by proceeding.
It may not be the prosecutor's fault. If the only evidence they had was that the protester was apprehended in the vicinity of the crimes, the court is right to throw the case out.
It's not clear if the prosecutors were wrong to charge people without more evidence, whether the evidence was borderline and the prosecutors thought they had enough until the court threw them out, or if the police didn't deliver enough evidence.
In any event, people are going to think twice before the protest an inauguration again.
