CNN host John King couldn't believe no contestant on the popular trivia show "Jeopardy!" knew the answer to a question about the Russia investigation, wondering Friday what that said about the nation's "focus."
"Only the smartest of the smart get to be on Jeopardy, right?" King asked. "So what does this little exchange last night say about the nation's focus, or lack thereof, on the whole [Robert] Mueller Russia meddling and collusion investigation?"
Two contestants buzzed in and responded incorrectly to the $1,000 clue Thursday night, "In 2017, this ex-National Security Adviser pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI?" One guessed John Kelly; the other guessed Sebastian Gorka.
King said he'd personally bomb on "Jeopardy!" but he knew the answer was Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty last year to lying to the FBI about his contacts with the Russians during the presidential transition. His tenure as National Security Adviser lasted less than a month.
CNN has reported extensively on the sprawling Russia probe led by Mueller, which has delved beyond the question of meddling in the 2016 election and potential Trump campaign collusion, ensnaring several Trump allies besides Flynn. Reporter Maeve Reston said in January "that's all we talk about at CNN, basically."
Great. You sent me down the rabbit hole of SNL "Celebrity Jeopardy" videos on Youtube.
Damn, those were funny!
Alex Trebeck: The category is Your Name.
Sean Connery: Trebeck is a son of a bitch.
The only places I’ve seen it on is in airports and doctors offices. Now i’m just seeing house fix it up shows. No one is paying attention, even if it’s on.
I'll take Embarrassing Defeat for $4,600, Alex.
There's the matter of how smart you are, which goes toward figuring out what kind of answer they want, and there's a very different matter of what you know, which is knowing the answer itself.
Let's recall the brief national laugh we had a few months ago when all three high-dollar players had absolutely no clue to any of the five questions in the Football category. That was indeed a "lack of focus", but clearly was not indicative of "the nation's focus".
That said, I am in full agreement with other posters here that the public's ignorance of the meager fruits of FBI's witch hunt, despite CNN's exhaustive efforts, indicates the correct "focus", although I would not argue that it would be better if more people knew that precious few results have been produced thus far.
I didn’t know it when the question was asked. I guess that’s because Flynn wasn’t really guilty of anything, except not being able to afford the lawyers to defend himself.
“Mediot assholes for $100, Alex.”
CNN: “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”.
Nobody g.a.s. for $800, Alex.
"Only the smartest of the smart get to be on Jeopardy, right?"
and then add well not always
At this point what does it matter?!!!
More than one, I think it was three.
Witch hunt for $100, Alex.
Is that Andy Richter on the right?
Yes, I have noticed that Jeopardy phrases questions to push the Leftist narrative and agenda. It is very irritating. They just can’t resist turning everything into agitprop.
On tonights Jeopardy:
Contestant: Lets try Fake News for a thousand
A: John King
Contestants: (Silence)
Alex. Who is cnns biggest idiot?
CNN...where nobody knows your name
maybe the contestants were smart enough to realize Jeopardy staff was trying to politicize Jeopardy?
Yes it is. Here's the J-Archive site for all the answers and questions from that match.
I bet Wolf Blitzer is wishing they wouldnt bring up Jeopardy.
