Despite what many of us want to believe, President Donald Trump is the front-runner in 2020. If you supported him in 2016, you have little reason to regret your choice -- he's working hard to fulfill all his campaign promises. Sure, the polls often show that Trump's approval rating is underwater. But voters are a lot more than just data points graphed onto projections.
No incumbent president in recent history has presided over a strong economy, not been enmeshed in a ground war and lost the next election. So, for those of us who desperately want to see a new president, just telling ourselves that a majority of the voters in key states will see what we see and feel how we feel isn't enough to actually win. It's going to take more than the constant tearing of garments and endless howls of outrage to beat him. It's going to take an outside factor -- like Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement.
There's no easily foreseeable reason the Senate won't be able to confirm whomever Trump nominates. In theory, Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, could join the 49 Democrats and slow the process, but it may not be realistic to expect every Democrat to stick together, particularly ones up for re-election in red states....

Why 9-0 or 8-1?
Much like a legislature claiming to have balanced the budget, beginning in year 2027, in 2018.
would like to see gay marriage overturned as well- and have the court overturn the ‘separation of church and state’ ‘endorsement’ law issued by activist SC judges-
Just keep thinking that.
They love Trump. He’s good for ratings. The people running CNN know that they are basically impotent as far as having any real effect on who is pro or anti Trump; almost no one’s mind is going to be changed by anything on their site or broadcasts, but good ratings=$$ The get both their righteous liberal angst on AND eyeballs, win/win (and their tax cuts, make that win/win/win).
LOL. You're right about that, Bradley. Keep telling your liberal audience that so we can see them cry and freak out. Its amusing to us on the Right.
Exactly what I was thinking. If no RvW "case" is brought up before the Supremes, it can't be overturned. At least not by them.
However, if the Dems were to run against every Republican Congressman with the same argument about reversing RvW, they may have a point, not unlike the ones on their heads. At least, Congress could introduce a law to overturn (or at least gut) the tenets of RvW.
I agree. The best we can hope folks for IMO is to reduce the number of them by defunding Planned Parenthood and other butcher shops.
Now the SCOTUS could assign a human rights category for the unborn, that would result in an overturn too.
Well have to wait and see.
CNN, you’re so out of touch and desperate. Sorta like Hitler in his bunker assigning non-existent divisions in the defense of Berlin. CNN=Crazy Nutty Nazis
This is just wishful thinking on the part of democrats.
They are hoping that something earthshaking happens by November to rescue them from their own ass-hatery.
They were pining their hopes on a nuclear attack by North Korea but President Trump foiled that.
Now they are hoping against hope that they can convince voters that a Trump SCOTUS appointee will somehow overturn Roe v Wade.
And they want to get it done in time to make their dream of a November Blue Wave come true.
But realistically, barring some sort of holocaust, Civil War-2, or muslim takeover of the government, Roe v Wade will never be overturned in its entirety.
Can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube...
doubtful it will sink him. it becomes a state issue again.
Yep, I remember when the Obamacare mandate was overturned by the court.
Roe V will not be overturned. And if you give a damn about unborn babies, you know that is not going to help any if it were overturned.
Abortion is here to stay, like rape and murder. There will always be people who kill their babies, mostly for convenience but also because they dont want a baby with disabilities. It will never be performed in a dark alley with a coat hanger. People with medical degrees will perform them, and some will be your neighborhood obgyn, calling it a D&C following a miscarriage.
The way to make fewer abortions is hearts and minds, empowering young people to hold off on sex sometimes, strong ultrasound machines showing that beating heart 3 weeks post orgasm, and financial incentives to staying pregnant.
tyranny is 9 unelected justices forcing social-engineering schemes on the entire nation, and taking power away from the elected representatives of each state.
Ripping unborn babies apart is not health care nor a human right.
Roe V Wade has become the hill to die on for the left.
If a political party is destroyed over the issue it will be the Democrats.
“blah blah blah blah...we’ve got him this time.
blah blah blah...will lead to his impeachment... blah blah”
whatever...
