Trump should pardon the young man.
What if you carry a weapon under the vehicle? Rig up a flame thrower attached to the car's frame on the driver's side. If a carjacker makes a move, hit the button and watch the fun happen from a front-row vantage point.

I am so glad that I don’t live anywhere on the east coast, Lefties plus....this guy should appeal this ridiculous ruling. Just plain stupid. I would check to see if this judge is a obama/clinton supporter.

Read the crucial conviction point before opining:
“Sumpter was working INSIDE a Dunkin’ Donuts when the attack occurred, and after being “assaulted inside the coffee shop, Sumpter ran OUTSIDE and stabbed one of the men.”
His public defender, Howard Ehring, noted that one of the suspects was carrying shotgun shells, suggesting that this indicated an intention to harm Sumpter.
Sumpter was convicted of first-degree assault and will be on probation for three years following his release.”
No worries. When all one has to react to is printed words without audio and visual cues we humans depend on for communication, it’s a wonder such misunderstandings don’t happen more often.
If this was a jury trial and I had been on the jury, I would have voted "Not Guilty".

My daughter left San Francisco about 8 years ago & moved to Louisville. She owns a home with a payment (small house with a big yard) that is less than 1/3 what her 450 square foot apt cost there in 2010.
She has more disposable income, several guns and a CCDW. And Louisville / Jefferson County is NOT a politically conservative area.
It sounds like they assaulted him, left, he chased them outside, and stabbed one. Even under Stand Your Ground, he would have been in trouble.
The allowed self defense is to run.
He chose not to run and is therefore guilty

Agreed, prison sounds a bit over the top. Fact is, though if he chased after the assailants once they dis-engaged, then stabbed one of the them, that's a no-no, even in a "stand your ground" state.
If you were governor of Connecticut, you wouldn’t be posting on Free Republic, but rather Huff Post, Dummies Underground, or Daily Kos.
Pardon me? Van Jones, please call your office. President Trump wants to talk to you about a criminal injustice matter. Wants to support an appeal to the US Supreme Court. Has a hunch a conservative majority would overturn the @#$%! conviction of a certain upstanding young African American man, with no priors, in a heartbeat. Can you help?
