I left the Republican Party. Now I want Democrats to take over
The washington Post ^ | July 04, 2018 | Max Boot

Posted on 07/04/2018 10:56:46 AM PDT by Hojczyk

Personally, I’ve thrown up my hands in despair at the debased state of the GOP. I don’t want to be identified with the party of the child-snatchers. But I respect principled conservatives who are willing to stay and fight to reclaim a once-great party that freed the slaves and helped to win the Cold War. What I can’t respect are head-in-the-sand conservatives who continue to support the GOP by pretending that nothing has changed.

They act, these political ostriches, as if this were still the party of Ronald Reagan and John McCain rather than of Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller — and therefore they cling to the illusion that supporting Republican candidates will advance their avowed views. Wrong. The current GOP still has a few resemblances to the party of old — it still cuts taxes and supports conservative judges. But a vote for the GOP in November is also a vote for egregious obstruction of justice, rampant conflicts of interest, the demonization of minorities, the debasement of political discourse, the alienation of America’s allies, the end of free trade and the appeasement of dictators.

That is why I join Will and other principled conservatives, both current and former Republicans, in rooting for a Democratic takeover of both houses in November. Like postwar Germany and Japan, the Republican Party must first be destroyed before it can be rebuilt.

The party of Ronald Reagan and John McCain?

McCain was never a Reagan Republican. In fact, Reagan couldn't stand the guy.

This guy is one of those big-government globalist pr!cks who never met a war he didn't want someone else's kids to fight.

F#%& him.

I voted for Donald Trump because I got tired of these Sunni Muslims masquerading as Republicans in Washington.

Personally, I’ve thrown up my hands in despair at the debased state of the GOP. I don’t want to be identified with the party of the child-snatchers.

So, it's okay to be identified with the party of the child-snatchers, the Democrats, who started the policy.

Willful omission of this fact is lying, outright.

More lying, outright, from Max Boot? Claiming to be a Republican.

From Wikipedia: "I am socially liberal: I am pro-LGBTQ rights, pro-abortion rights, pro-immigration. I am fiscally conservative: I think we need to reduce the deficit and get entitlement spending under control. I am pro-environment: I think that climate change is a major threat that we need to address. I am pro-free trade: I think we should be concluding new trade treaties rather than pulling out of old ones. I am strong on defense: I think we need to beef up our military to cope with multiple enemies. And I am very much in favor of America acting as a world leader: I believe it is in our own self-interest to promote and defend freedom and free markets as we have been doing in one form or another since at least 1898."

That is the very definition of NeoCon, not the definition of Republican. A NeoCon is a Democrat who left the party because they are not warlike enough.

who would call Rush Limbaugh and say, I am a registered Republican, but...

In a different era, possibly in different personal circumstances, Boot was a very interesting, lively, conservative writer for NR who was very perceptive on foreign policy and power. But the vagaries of life, especially daily life, have a major effect on how people see the world "out there."

When you take away morality, a surprising number of us lose our judgment on almost everything else, and become swamp creatures.

From 2001. Max Boot's solution to failed states such as Somalia and Afghanistan? The US should take them over, incorporating them into the American Empire:

Afghanistan and other troubled lands today cry out for the sort of enlightened foreign administration once provided by self-confident Englishmen in jodhpurs and pith helmets.

This should be a lesson to us: A big tent is no tent at all, but an open bare space with no defenses, just like a country without borders.

Good riddance to the Boots, Bushes, McCains, and Wills. Let us never let their like in again. A big tent will inevitably shrink to fit the least common denominator: the peripheral opportunists who will sneak outside at night to collaborate with the enemy every chance that they get.

"Now I want Democrats to take over"

How quickly some people forget!

Lawless Democrats had been calling the shots for eight years until about one and a half years ago.

Yeah Riiiight. Its like, “I was a tower guard at the Republican FEMA Concentration camps, and now I work for Wapo and CNN.” Another LOAD of BS from the usual BS promoters. They are in a panic mode. “We have to use anything we got to win this F’r campaign.” (A somewhat quote from 2016 Veritas hidden camera report.)
