Alan Dershowitz slams Martha's Vineyard liberals for 'shunning' him over Trump defense
FOX NEWS ^ | July 3, 2018 | Lukas Mikelionis

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz said last week that his defense of President Donald Trump’s constitutional rights led to him being “shunned” by his own friends at a high-end seasonal destination.

The famed lawyer lamented the efforts to eject him from his social life at Martha’s Vineyard amid his outspoken criticism of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the alleged collusion with Russia.

In an op-ed for The Hill, Dershowitz, a frequent guest on Fox News, said that though he’s politically a liberal Democrat who voted for Hillary Clinton in addition to contributing “handsomely” to her campaign, his defense of civil liberties that could benefit Trump is too much to swallow for his social circle.

“But that is not good enough for some of my old friends on Martha’s Vineyard. For them, it is enough that what I have said about the Constitution might help Trump. So they are shunning me and trying to ban me from their social life on Martha’s Vineyard."

“I never thought I would see McCarthyism come to Martha’s Vineyard, but I have. I wonder if the professor who refuses to listen to anything I have to say also treats his students similarly,” he continued. “Would he listen to a student who actively supported Trump? What about one who simply supported his civil liberties?”

Alan, you’ve had some serious blinders on. Sounds like you are so immensely selfish that you just never bothered to notice.

Welcome to our world Alan.

You will need to get new friends...or recant on bended knee.

Watch your back, leftists are evil.

“I am not sure whether he has supported the Clintons in the past because of blackmail or if he is a real bad actor”

He is a forever “bad actor, i.e., a rabid liberal. He loves the Clintons and always has. Usually when he makes a Fox appearance he is quick to say he voted for Hillary and that what she did wasn’t a bad or criminal thing. He thinks she and Bill are getting a bad rap from conservatives.

Also, what you said about Epstein Island. Hopes to get a break when the SHTF.

Good grief. And he's only voicing out loud what many of us have suspected for a long time, that for all these people on both sides, their cocktail circuit bona fides matter more than any principle or political conviction, if pressed. Who could care so much about whether or not a bunch of superficial but connected, traitrous people like them? Almost any DC "insider", that's who. Good thing George Washington didn't care about being ostracized by the elite ruling British of his day.

IKR? What world has he been living in? That fake world of “my esteemed colleague across the aisle”? They are naturally all chummy until someone rocks the boat on behalf of conservative principle, until that occurs they are one big happy elite globalist family.

I appreciate the Professor’s defense of Civil Liberties. Seems no one on the Left believes everyone is entitled to them.

Professor, you are welcome in my American Legion bar anytime you like to come in. I’ll sign you in myself. We’ll have a better time there than any smarmy Marthas Vinyard party. We can talk OJ, guilt or innocence...

I’ve often seen Derschowitz as a member of an increasingly rare breed, the thinking liberal. He may actually be the only one left.

How does Alan Dershowitz not know the answer to this question? He worked along side Elizabeth Warren at Harvard.

I go on vacation to get away from a-holes. I don’t wade into them.

Alan, go to Hampton beach like all of the other blue collar folks from Boston

I go to Nantasket Beach. Elites would never go to either.

Alan Dershowitz is a legal scholar and a defender of liberty. Alan also has been critical on Trump about immigration and enforcement at the Mexican border. He is a pretty good neutral source when needing a legal interpretation. He is not a good partisan source when looking for an ally or policy defender. You get what get with Alan. He will listen to both sides of an issue and apply the law as he sees it. Dershowitz does a very good job articulating his stance. He is the total opposite of Elizabeth Warren.
