I've never worked in a bar or restaurant, so I don't know much about this. I also suppose that different establishments have different policies for tip sharing anyway. I'd be curious to know what any others here think of this.

Tip sharing I have seen at my coffee stops and the local oriental take-out as is even distribution to the wait staff and the kitchen staff in Chopstix and at the diners it is just divvying up the tips among the waits.
