THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
JEROME KERN
ROBERTA: I WONT DANCE
This song was added to the 1935 RKO film by Kern and Dorothy Fields. Its one of their best known songs and has been recorded in almost every format known to musicians.
This film clip starts with Fred playing a style he called filthy piano, a little thing he picked up from his old friend George Gershwin. Gingers Russian accent is hilarious. When Fred goes into his tap dance, it becomes sublime.
