President Donald Trump has repeatedly told his advisers that he wants to leave the World Trade Organization, Axios reported.
Hes [threatened to withdraw] 100 times. It would totally [screw] us as a country, a source told Axios.
We always get fed by them [the WTO]. I dont know why were in it. The WTO is designed by the rest of the world to screw the United States, the source said.
In an interview with Fox Business Friday, Treasury Secretary described the Axios report as an exaggeration.

Gingrich and Dole helped the democrats pass GATT in the lame-duck '94 session - because it would have never gotten passed otherwise.
How we tax our goods SHOULD NOT be subject to a ruling from some foreign body,
Another Trump negotiating tactic.
Quite different from a policy change.
Gulliver tied down by the Lilliputians.
Yet more winning. My brain is getting numb to it all.
Awesome!!!!
How we label our goods as country of origin shouldn’t be subect to a foreign body either.
HELL YES!!!!! MAGA, baby.....
A source said that, hmm? Who could possibly argue with that? No, actually it would [screw] the WTO. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Bingo. WTO is another useless, bureaucratic organization with a lofty title.
More winning!
WTG!
I need one of those thermometer charts. Soon the winning will be splashing over the top.
I agree with you.
Here’s what has always bothered me about these organizations, the U.N., the W.T.O. and others.
Each nation gets one or two votes. If an important issue comes up, Zimbabwe has the votes to cancel ours out, and then on to a myriad of other third worlder grifters who want a slice of our national treasury.
This may not be the exact way the W.T.O. operates, but you can bet that we are vastly outnumbered there, and it stands to reason we’re a big target.
There was a ruling a few years back. One of our companies had an entity in Europe. It paid taxes on it’s earnings there. The U. S. didn’t double tax it, and a European entity took the U. S. to the W.T.O., because they deemed that an unfair trade advantage. I don’t remember all the particulars now, but the European entity prevailed.
To hell with that.
What if they started dictating our work week, seeking to declare it a workplace trade advantage.
Sounds far fetched, but what’s to stop them?
The W.T.O. is one of those great sounding ideas up front, that turn sour after the fact.
That may be true too. We’ll have to wait and see.
If so, I hope he squeezes until it hurts.
Would any of the other 16 candidates, if elected President, called our attention to the things this President has?
If so, would they even had the guts to do something meaningful about it?
Doubtful.
Dont the libs constantly protest the wto? Are they now honorbound to defend it now with violence if they have to?
“... It would totally [screw] us as a country, a source told Axios...”
A “source”, huh????
And to where did you go to get this “source”, Axios???
Just someone you met on the street corner holding a sign saying “Please help me...”???
Oftentimes, with “world” in it (as the focus) it seems to be bad for the United States.
New World Order
World Trade Organization
World Council of Churches
(add yours)
Now I like World of Wheels.
And I remember the World Trade Center buildings. It’s always interesting to see them in old TV shows and movies.
There was the World Wide Web - but Obama gave that away...
Market trader 'in shock' at conviction for selling fruit and veg by the pound
A market trader convicted of selling fruit and vegetables using imperial measures has spoken of her "outrage" at the decision.

Janet Devers, 64, said she was "in shock" at the decision to sentence her for selling the goods in pounds and ounces rather than kilos and grams.
Magistrates ordered Mrs. Devers, from Wanstead, east London, to pay just under £5,000 in costs and told her she would have a criminal record after being found guilty of eight offenses under the Weights and Measures Act.
The "metric martyr" was also convicted of selling vegetables for £1 a bowl rather than counting them out individually, a common practice among Britain's estimated 40,000 market traders to help customers confused by metric measures.
"I am flabbergasted by the decision," the pensioner and mother-of-two told The Sunday Telegraph. "Last year the EU commissioner said that Brussels didn't want to criminalise people selling in pounds and ounces and yet the British authorities are doing exactly that.
Speak of the devil:
“...Russia filed a lawsuit with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against duties imposed by the United States...”
If I’m not mistaken, getting rid of the WTO would literally require an “act of Congress” because it’s a treaty. If that’s the case, I don’t see it happening.
