The 2016 election gave us the Silent Trump Supporter Trump voters who would not reveal their true sympathies to pollsters.
This was a great mystery at the time, but seeing now how Trump supporters are routinely denigrated, harassed and vilified, their silence was understandable if not prescient.
In 2018, the Silent Trump Supporter has gone global.
Around the world, government officials and heads of state ritually denounce President Trump to anyone who will listen. But at the same time they are pursuing the game-changing policies the president has championed.
Take this story from the European Union, please.
China and the European Union vowed to oppose trade protectionism in an apparent rebuke to the U.S., saying unilateral actions risked pushing the world into a recession, reports the lede sentence in a recent Bloomberg story.
However, European companies are complaining about the lack of reciprocity between the access to Chinas markets that they get, and the access Chinese companies get to Europe. Brussels also has problems with Chinas forced technology transfers, steel overcapacity, cyber espionage and investments targeting critical technology and infrastructure.
And while Eurocrats genuflect to multilateral globalism, they acknowledge the World Trade Organization needs to be updated to better equip it for the contemporary world.
How do we know all this? Its in the same Bloomberg story, buried eleven paragraphs down.
Chinas non-reciprocal protection of its home market, its industrial espionage, forced technology transfer, deliberate overproduction of steel and aluminum, and the WTOs inability to deal with Beijings flagrant serial violations these are the issues President Trump has addressed after decades of diplomatic happy talk and no action.

We’ve had decades (except 1980-1988) of ‘professional’ politicians that look good, smell good and talk good driving our Republic towards tyranny and America towards mediocrity. That culminated in the eight years prior to this presidency.
The world is better with a strong America.
The nation needed a brawler who expects more and gets things done. I only hope 8 years is enough time to bring more reinforcements to the front lines (running for office).
Yes he is.
Nonsense. Trump voters were not "silent." Look how many of them turned out at rally after rally after rally in city after city after city in state after state after state.
The truth is that pollsters over-sampled Clinton voters, making it look like Trump was behind.
Doesn't anyone remember how Reuters/Ipsos changed their methodology once Trump took the polling lead, in order to report Clinton winning again?

Trump frequently takes positive positions on legislation that is at odds with his campaign promises. He does so to expose the fact that the Democrats and Rino’s do not desire solutions to the problems of their creation.
There is also the benefit of watching them recoil like vampires from the cross when he offers them more than they asked for.
Trump/Pence sign still prominent on my house. Same with bumpersticker.
“DJT is has hands down delivered the best *results* from a President in my life, but I struggle with his presidentialness to some degree.”
His lack of”political polish” is something I love about him.
“If his execution were combined with Reagans statesmanship and poise, I have no doubt hed be up 15 points in the polls right now.”
Statesmanship and Poise are past their use by date.
The barbarians are crashing the gate and slipping over the wall.
The times call for a street fighter and thats what we got.
“What we need is an old horse soldier to whip this army into shape.”
“Patton sir?”
“Maybe.”
“God help us sir.”
And haven’t we learned to take polls with a ton of salt?
“One thing that worries me is that Trump is particularly polarizing to the women in my sphere. While there are certainly exceptions, he seems to trigger even right-leaning women with alarming consistency.”
Don’t worry.
Once women see their families doing better under the Trump administration they will know how to vote.
“His positions on immigration bother me sometimes, but Im never sure if hes supporting legislation he knows in advance will fail to paint a more moderate picture or not.”
We are seeing The Art Of The Deal gone international.
“The past two years have been a constant string of winning, and Im no where near tired of it.”
Winning can be fun!
Who knew!
“I maintain that a large swath of voters pull the lever based on likeability alone, however, and the potential to gain support among those voters who really dont understand the issues driving their political leanings and would throw in with Oprah because shes nice is being squandered.”
There are always those types of voters.
Cater to them and lose part of your base.
President Trump is doing just fine with Right and Center and his economic policies are gathering the moderate dems as well as legal immigrants and blacks.
As far as Oprah, I don’t think she wants her life thrown under the intense microscope that President Trump would subject her to.
The man who brought Slick Willie’s victims to the debate wouldn’t think twice about combing Oprahs life to a fare thee well.
I think there are plenty of skeletons in the Winfrey closet.
Plus we have already had a black president so the race card is invalid and Hillary tore up the gender card.
His support of the compromise bill that failed this week for starters. :)
Red Hen is closed until July 6, a week from today.
Hopefully they’ll get an ear full when they return.
