The 2016 election gave us the Silent Trump Supporter Trump voters who would not reveal their true sympathies to pollsters.
This was a great mystery at the time, but seeing now how Trump supporters are routinely denigrated, harassed and vilified, their silence was understandable if not prescient.
In 2018, the Silent Trump Supporter has gone global.
Around the world, government officials and heads of state ritually denounce President Trump to anyone who will listen. But at the same time they are pursuing the game-changing policies the president has championed.
Take this story from the European Union, please.
China and the European Union vowed to oppose trade protectionism in an apparent rebuke to the U.S., saying unilateral actions risked pushing the world into a recession, reports the lede sentence in a recent Bloomberg story.
However, European companies are complaining about the lack of reciprocity between the access to Chinas markets that they get, and the access Chinese companies get to Europe. Brussels also has problems with Chinas forced technology transfers, steel overcapacity, cyber espionage and investments targeting critical technology and infrastructure.
And while Eurocrats genuflect to multilateral globalism, they acknowledge the World Trade Organization needs to be updated to better equip it for the contemporary world.
How do we know all this? Its in the same Bloomberg story, buried eleven paragraphs down.
Chinas non-reciprocal protection of its home market, its industrial espionage, forced technology transfer, deliberate overproduction of steel and aluminum, and the WTOs inability to deal with Beijings flagrant serial violations these are the issues President Trump has addressed after decades of diplomatic happy talk and no action.

My fave Prez in by whole life.
Me too....And, I go all the way back to FDR.
Same here.
I haven’t forgotten about Ronald Reagan either. He was a very good man and I appreciated his service to our nation very much.
When his casket laid in state at the Reagan Library, I went over there with my wife and we paid our respect to the man.
We live in different times. Trump is the man that is called for in these days. I believe he is well on his way of returning this nation to it’s Founding tenets, as much as possible.
It would be impossible to actually do it 100%. The world has changed. It is remarkable how well the Constitution holds up over time though.
Trump gets it, and over the next six years I expect to see him please us again and again.
The Red Hen has gone global, does that mean they’re shipping the bird crap from their awnings to the EU?
Can’t. The tariffs are too high...
Good one.
Same here. Been alive since towards end of President Ike.
President Trump is the man the times NEEDS.
Mine as well.
DJT is has hands down delivered the best *results* from a President in my life, but I struggle with his “presidentialness” to some degree.
If his execution were combined with Reagan’s statesmanship and poise, I have no doubt he’d be up 15 points in the polls right now.
One thing that worries me is that Trump is particularly polarizing to the women in my sphere. While there are certainly exceptions, he seems to trigger even right-leaning women with alarming consistency.
His positions on immigration bother me sometimes, but I’m never sure if he’s supporting legislation he knows in advance will fail to paint a more moderate picture or not.
The past two years have been a constant string of winning, and I’m no where near tired of it.
I maintain that a large swath of voters pull the lever based on likeability alone, however, and the potential to gain support among those voters who really don’t understand the issues driving their political leanings and would throw in with Oprah because “she’s nice” is being squandered.
Too lazy to RTFA, eh?
What “heads of state” are denigrating Potus? This article just quotes other articles from foreign countries. We already know 99 % of journalists don’t like President Trump.
We’re only 17 months into President Trump’s 8 years. He hasn’t eclipsed President Reagan in accomplishments, just in the joy of watching America’s enemies dissolve into tears daily. He is on track to edge out Reagan, eventually, just not there yet.
To watch this administration in action day after day; it’s similar to having paid for the matinee and finding the extras of documentaries, war clips, this week’s serial episode and old cartoons we remember as children. Loving this guy and how he has taken charge of everything, turning us back to the right course (that which our FF envisioned)
Long Live President Trump, GOD bless him! Certainly a man for THIS time.
Ha ha!
Trump would handily win Re-election if it were held today. The leftists cant believe their media annihilation has not helped them.
And while Eurocrats genuflect to multilateral globalism, they acknowledge the World Trade Organization needs to be updated to better equip it for the contemporary world.
How do we know all this? Its in the same Bloomberg story, buried eleven paragraphs down.
Trump is changing the world...
“His positions on immigration bother me sometimes...”
Which ones?
Presidents are like generals
Yeah most people think they want their general have on a pretty brass all spit and polished looking regal Talking profound and elegant
but the reality when you’re in the heat of battle to death ...in juse fine with the guy that curses has blood and mud on his face is not elegant.... but fights to win
pretty is great... but winning is necessary.... This is not a battle with Marcus and queensberry’s rules this is a street fight a dog fight
