Fired Detroit Tigers pitching coach Chris Bosio said Thursday he was given the boot for using the word monkey in a conversation overheard by an African-American staffer.
Bosio, 54, was cut loose earlier this week for what the Tigers called insensitive comments. According to WXYZ-TV, Bosio directed racially charged language at a team employee.
But Bosio told USA Today he wasn't talking about the employee or using the word in a racial or disparaging manner. He said he was using it to describe pitcher Daniel Stumpf, a white player who's pitched for the Tigers since 2017.

“Look at that little monkey run!” ~ Howard Cosell
That would be good.
He didn't then!
Red Dwarf will be purged or sanitized since the cat called Rimmer and Lister monkey a lot.
How Soviet of them! I call my grandson a little monkey all the time! And he is. Keeping up with him is taxing my strength.
I can’t wait to tell someone to mind their own business when they notice his brown skin.
In my working days, I was often behind the eight ball due to my smart a$$ed mouth. I am so thankful I am retired in this age of political correctness. Using old school slang, sarcasm, and condescension now leads to unemployment. Those of us who are of a certain age were warped by watching too much Carson, Python, and TW3.
this is reason NUMBER ONE that we need to clear the courts of this insanity...
At least he didn’t say “macaca”.
SUE the league for false termination
Thats EXACTLY right!
He should have used cracka instead. Cracka is acceptable to describe a white man. White boy is also acceptable.
Hey wait a minute, did I hear you say chimp on your shoulder?
Bosio may sue.
They used to call us ‘peckawood’ back in the day.
Lol! Ooga-Ooga....Oh no. I meant ; Womp Womp!
Just like they dropped Peter Fonda like a hot potato after what he said. No, wait...
When Democrats hear monkey, they think African American.
Who is the racist?"
Exactly.
A few years ago, I had a large tree in my yard cut down, and the tree-topper was an Asian guy (Thai, I think), who impressed me with his ability to quickly climb despite the fact that he was toting a chainsaw. Describing him to friends, I said he “climbed that tree like a monkey.” I would have said the same thing if he was white, and it’s spooky to think that an innocent comment like that can get you fired.
If you were to put a number of photos of people of different races in front of a 3 year old, (ANY 3 year old), and asked them if any of the pictures looks like a monkey, would you call that kid a racist if they pointed to a photo of an AA?
Just curious.
