New York Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pushing back on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) characterization of her surprise primary win, saying the Democratic Party is in the midst of a movement.
“I think that we’re in the middle of a movement in this country,” Ocasio-Cortez told CNN's Erin Burnett late Wednesday. “I feel this movement, but that movement is going to happen from the bottom up. That movement is going to come from voters.”

Pelosi dismissed speculation in a news conference earlier Wednesday, saying Ocasio-Cortez's win should not be seen as a larger movement within the party at the national level.
"They made a choice in one district. So let’s not get yourself carried away as an expert on demographics and the rest of that," Pelosi said.

I don’t think so. She may be chosen, in a sense, but unless she subscribes to party discipline which, btw is the process of both parties, she will pay. She either toes the line or does not get the plum appointments, community money or anything she puts forth for her constituents.
Pelosi held a whip in a photo op years ago. She meant it.
To your last point: she’s a member of the minority party just showing up in Congress. She’ll get worse than a broom closet for an office if she doesn’t kiss Pelosi’s ring.
Ocasio-Cortez is a product of our times
America has had bread and circuses in increasing amounts - for the last 80 years, and especially increasing recently. Our private economy has had huge gains in productivity - but much more visibility, we’ve grown massive government and the nanny state, funded by massive debt, in our printed, fiat currency, at near zero interest rates. There’s always been more money available for social-engineering schemes

She got lucky with only 17% voter turnout, that district lost a powerful Rep for an Obama wannabe. I’m glad she won , creates chaos for Dems pulling them further left.
