Justice Anthony M. Kennedy announced Wednesday that he is retiring from the Supreme Court, a move that gives President Trump the chance to replace the court’s pivotal justice and dramatically shift the institution to the right, setting up a bitter partisan showdown on Kennedy’s successor.

“It has been the greatest honor and privilege to serve our nation in the federal judiciary for 43 years, 30 of those years on the Supreme Court,” Kennedy, who is stepping down July 31, said in a statement.
Kennedy informed the president of his decision in a letter.

Just keep in mind, my fellow conservatives, there are many amongst the leftist crowd that are preparing for open war. Here’s one post from the DU thread:

People like this, your garden variety moonbat, may not start the war, but I would bet quite a bit of money that they would join in on the act once it starts. Trump cabinet members and citizens who are open supporters of Trump should be prepared for more than leftists screaming at them.

Please, not Judge Hardiman. According to a study I have read, he is between Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Kennedy ideologically. The other two might or might not be OK. Willett is said to have some libertarian leanings, which might negatively affect his opinions on immigration and some criminal cases.
I would prefer Thomas Lee, Allison Eid or Amy Coney Barrett.
In this case, open carry is probably preferable, as it may act as a deterrent to those who still possess a modicum of sanity and a desire for self-preservation.
Being a political centrist doesn’t mean that such a person interprets the Constitution correctly. The U.S. Constitution, having been adopted in the 18th century, is on average a conservative document in spite of the later ammendments.
