A study released by the Thomson Reuters Foundation reveals that, for the first time, the United States has been named one of the top ten most dangerous countries for women.
The mirth is entirely unintentional, even though it's hard to believe that someone isn't pulling the leg of the international community.
The study asked 550 "women's experts" which countries are the "most dangerous for women and which country was worst in terms of health care, economic resources, cultural or traditional practices, sexual violence and harassment, non-sexual violence and human trafficking,"
Leading the list is India, with its rape gangs and a culture that degrades women. Not far behind in the top 10 are Afghanistan and Syria.
The foundation said the U.S. placement on the dubious list was down largely to the #MeToo and Time's Up campaigns increasing awareness of sexual violence and intimidation of women in the U.S. in the wake of the criminal allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
"People want to think income means you're protected from misogyny, and sadly that's not the case," Cindy Southworth, of the Washington-based National Network to End Domestic Violence, told the foundation. "We are going to look back and see this as a very powerful tipping point[.] ... We're blowing the lid off and saying '#Metoo and Time's Up'."
Do we really want this woman and others who think like her defining "sexual harassment" for the rest of us? That alone makes the list laughable.

The list of the ten most dangerous countries for women has some glaring omissions:
1. India
2. Afghanistan
3. Syria
4. Somalia
5. Saudi Arabia
6. Pakistan
7. Democratic Republic of Congo
8. Yemen
9. Nigeria
10. United States
10!!!!???? Hell, this whack job isn’t even trying to fake this. He’s phoning it in. If he was a real good liberal, he’d prove that we are number one.
Over 325,000 are murdered here each year.
Year | Number of abortions reported to CDC | Induced abortion ratio per 1,000 live births |
---|---|---|
2011 | 730,322 | 219 |
2012 | 699,202 | 210 |
2013 | 664,435 | 200 |
2014 | 652,639 | 186 |
I wonder why The Guardian refused to allow comments on this one, lol!
That probably explains why women in the United States outlive their male counterparts by an average of eight years. < / sarcasm >
What subversive bull sh*t. Then GTFO of the country if it’s so “dangerous”. Reuters...this is a surprise?
Those are “potential women”, not women /s
This is what happens when “experts” provide subjective qualitative opinions versus actual quantitative data. Had they developed a scoring system that defined what constituted a danger to women, then scored each country on each metric, they would have actually created something that had value.
I HATE when we lose to Haiti!
Horse Hockey
The politically incorrect but fundamental truth is that despite real racism, black and brown peoples wish to live among whites because they know their lives will be better. The migrations will not cease.
This list will be VERY helpful for women looking for a destination country when they FLEE THE DANGEROUS UNITED STATES PERHAPS VENEZUELA (which, because of its safety, is not on the list).
RE: I HATE when we lose to Haiti!
I HATE when we lose to Mexico!!
Until recently I was a regular poster on The Guardian.I was "BillFromBoston" and I was about as popular as a skunk at a picnic.Although I was always polite and subdued there (far more so than I am here) I was suspended many times for various time spans and then was finally suspended permanently for observing in a post that there are only two genders.
I,too, often noticed that certain pieces that were perfect for a comment section didn't have one.it's not difficult to figure out what their aim is in setting up comment sections for certain articles.
Men in Mexico, Haiti, South America, large areas of France,Sweden, UK, etc, said; “their women were just fine but unavailable for comment”.
“Comments have been disabled for this video” is one of Yoooutube’s many forms of censorship.
Bogus.
Pretty much every one of those above the US don’t allow women to set foot outside their front door without a male relative escort. And lets not even get into the child marriages and rapes. Let a girl dare attend school and see what happens. Oh so enlightened Saudi Arabia is #5 and they are just now allowing women to drive. Of course, that doesn’t mean women drivers won’t be dragged out of their cars and beaten to death.
Hmmm. Let's see how the USA does:
