Sad but true. I fear the day will come when one of the loonies gets shot (Heaven forbid) by a provoked conservative trying to defend him/her self. Then, “Katie, Bar The Door” as all hell will break loose and as we can expect, it will be Trumps fault.
That being said, yes, we're more civil because our beliefs are based on rationality and facts. When you're over-animated and under informed, you tend to let emotions take control and that seldom produces an moderated response.
The Left doesn’t want “tolerance”. They want acquiescence.
And they’re willing to kill you to get it.

The intolerance of the Left has always existed.
Like some religions the Left is only tolerant when it thinks it is in charge and its power and control is not in question. But underneath is always an authoritarian just screaming to get out, screaming to unmask the phony politeness that pretends to be tolerant of others. And when the opposition stands up and declares it will not succumb either to the Left’s demand for domination nor it’s intimidation, then the mask is off and that screming authoritarian steps out.
NAZIs, National Socialists, aren’t known for compassion to people with opposing views. Look at their idol Adolf Hitler. They try to deny him but they repeat all his actions and beliefs.
