Per Groucho, No.

Marx Brothers movies they throw out one liners so fast you can catch them all , you have to watch them two or three times to hear them all and every one liner is a hoot!
I don’t think Groucho was strictly conservative. He just didn’t like FDR. In those days, people didn’t have to mumble shiboleths or have their shows canceled over one tweet.
Groucho’s interaction with Margaret Dumont is the best model I can think of for Donald vs. the leftard establishment. He keeps pushing their buttons to watch them react, and they never catch on.
“I’m fighting for your honor, which is more than you ever did” went right over poor Margaret’s head.
In the interview he said he voted for Wilke the first time. Then talked about how nobody should run for office a third or fourth time. Or even a second for some.
B: “And some shouldn’t have run the first time!”
G: And in his poor health, FDR shouldn’t have gone over to Europe to meet those two powerhouses - he was weak. He should have resigned before that.
Interesting interview. Groucho talked about how WWII changed him. He performed at the hospitals and such. “It’s really hard - guy’s without a leg, or an arm - or the “basketcases” - no arms or legs. How can one make jokes - but I steeled myself and did it.”
B: So what sort of jokes would you tell?
G: Oh - I just did the same old routine. Comedy at it’s basics is funny to anybody.
It was interesting to hear about how he used his comedy to poke fun at the people in power. And while he did, it was not the malicious, crude stuff one hears today. The slight turn of a phrase, etc. Man - to have a quick wit like that.

Is that you or a relative? Not too bad. I don’t think that I knew that Groucho was Jewish until I saw this interview. There is another song he sings called “Father’s Day” that is pretty funny.
“Mother says that you are our father....and we believe her...”
Me.
I’ll still take the Marx Brothers.
