News is distancing itself from a racist remark made by one of its paid commentators on Sunday.
The commentator, David Bossie, was arguing on "Fox & Friends" with Democratic strategist Joel Payne, who is black. He told Payne, "you're out of your cotton-picking mind."
Payne was stunned by the remark. He told Bossie had had "some relatives who picked cotton, and I'm not going to sit back and let you attack me on TV like that."
Bossie, a veteran conservative activist, was a deputy campaign manager on the Trump campaign. He also served as a deputy director of Trump's transition team. He joined Fox News in February 2017.

I grew up in TX and “cotton picking” this or that was a common expression, and had nothing to do with race, since most cotton pickers in TX at that time were white people.
And this poor fool wants desperately to be taken seriously. ... Give me a cotton-pickin' break!

My grandmother milked cows in Michigan on a farm. I’m glad this was a northern state and no black people could hear her mention it. Cows ok, cotton not.
My mom and grandma would love to learn that white folk never picked cotton.

And he never met a one of them, as these relatives are long dead & gone. Just to set the record straight, there have been white people who picked cotton as well. They were often referred to as white trash, or poor white, and were despised as much, if not more, as the negro back in the times of slavery in the South.
The new thing on the Left is to take normal language and say it is off limits for some people.
Language has to be regulated by elites who determine which peasants are permitted to say which words.
