A federal judge on Wednesday refused to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a Chatham mother who says the school district forced her son to watch Islamic conversion videos and ignored the study of Christianity and Judaism.
Libby Hilsenrath filed the lawsuit, on behalf of her child (identified as C.H. in the suit), against the Chatham School District and Board of Education, as well as the superintendent, assistant superintendent, middle school principal, Social Studies supervisor, and two Social Studies teachers.
Judge Kevin McNulty said in the decision, on a motion filed by the school district's attorney to dismiss the lawsuit, that the "untested" scenario merits further exploration.
"As a lawsuit, this matter may present controversial issues," McNulty said in the 9-page opinion issued June 13. "As a motion to dismiss, it does not. There will be opportunity enough to consider the substantive issues when evidence has been developed in discovery and the facts have been developed."

Or have boys in the girl's bathroom.
Yes! Go to Court! (not a sharia court, of course)
But liberals didn’t want (Christian) religion in schools.
I hope in discovery they find the roots of this program and fire plenty of people who are setting up this BS in our public schools!
Unreal that it made it this far in NJ!
God Bless them!
Somebody prob threatened school board if they did not present islamic thought. Terrorize...then Brainwash...then terrorize and they’ll convert...having being beaten into submission...its all very obvious.
Should not have to sue. The guilty parties should be thrown in jail in somalia.
In this era of progressives, I have no confidence that discovery works at all, especially when trying discovery on the government. The government at all levels, uses (your) unlimited resources, delays, obstruction, lies, without any concern that they will ever be held responsible.
Pics of the two social studies teachers anywhere?
Leftscum dont get fired for denigrating the culture and laws that made America great. They get promoted. Withness the DoJ and FBI. /wish I was joking
“I have no confidence that discovery works at all, especially when trying discovery on the government.”
We know they edit, redact, lie, etc., so discovery would be a joke. Worthless.
They tried to induce “tolerance” (their excuse, I’m sure) as cause to actually conduct religious indoctrination, while neither acknowledging or carring that any religioun’s presentation not held together with presentations of ALL other religions AMOUNTS to religious prejudice against any religion they leave out. What they attempted to do is religious bias and cannot be done in a public school.
They have been teaching this class to many students for a long time and only two mothers have complained.
And it is not just in this NJ district. All over the USA religious history is being taught in public schools and that includes Islam
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
This is a civil rights issue.
Why isnt the DOJ taking this on?
Zzzz zzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz zzz zzzzzz zzzzzzzzz
I think you will find the source is Common Core books printed in Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Dubai.
Excuse me, but I am sure there has been a multitude of complaints against Islam being taught in Common Core.

Globally, Common Core originated from the One World Education concept, a global goal orchestrated by the Connect All Schools program. Its origin is funded by the Qatar Foundation International (QFI). The director of QFIs Research Center for Islamic Legislation and Ethics is Tariq Ramadan, grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder, Hassan al-Banna.
You know she’ll be run out of town. Still, good on her.
