I have no idea how he got into West Point, but I guarantee you his lasting through West Point despite objections was purely due to bureaucratic inertia. It's hard to get people kicked out of the Army. I'm honestly surprised he was kicked out at all for what seems like ideologically-driven notions. I'd figure a JAG lawyer would have a field day with that one. I'd love to know the actual charge they brought him up on and how they got it to stick.
Article 134 of the UCMJ, Conduct Unbecoming of an Officer. Continuing to show off his communist beliefs and the embarrassment it was causing the Army. Had Obama still been President, Rapone would still be an Officer.
