Gun Control Advocate: Obviously, The Trenton Shooting Was the NRA’s Fault, Too
The Truth About Guns ^ | 06/20/18 | Dan Zimmerman

Posted on 06/20/2018 9:37:57 AM PDT by Simon Green

“It has pissed me off quite frankly that we as a country, as a whole, don’t seem to be willing to face this issue head-on, don’t seem to be able to do anything about it. Other countries have. It kills me that people say, ‘Oh, there’s nothing we can do,’ or ‘The gun culture is so pervasive and we have the Second Amendment.’ There are things that can be done. Look at Australia — that is the model. They had this horrible mass shooting and they collectively decided that this is not who we want to be and they we are better than this. And here, nobody wants to do anything — and it’s because of the money. Because of the NRA and their lobbying.

“In my opinion, they are not about the second amendment and gun rights. They are lobbyists for gun manufacturers who are making lots of money selling these weapons and the ammunition. They have bought and sold Congress. It’s maddening to me that not enough people, including our elected officials, won’t stand up and say, ‘No, enough.’ It’s an uphill battle for sure, but we have got to do something. We need an army of people — not with guns —but with voices and their pens and their vote.” - Fran Carroll in Thoughts from a survivor – and gun control advocate – of Art All Night shooting [via mycentraljersey.com]

"Look at Australia"

Violent crime continued to decrease at the same rate after Australia's gun confiscation as it was decreasing before. There's nothing to show that the Australia experiment accomplished anything other than make slaves of its citizens.

Not to mention that the Australia model is confiscation as such.

I've noticed that where gun grabbers used to say "Give me a break. No one is going to take your guns.", they now say "Give me a break. No one is going to take all your guns."

The other things to consider are that New Zealand (Australia’s immediate neighbor) did not follow the lead in mass firearms prohibitions like Australia did following the 1996 Port Arthur, Tasmania shooting and did not have any mass incidents ever afterward and also experienced declining crime and homicide rates into the current century.

In the 1992 book “The Samurai, The Mountie, and The Cowboy”, David Kopel’s chapter on Australia and it’s firearms laws and culture discusses the 1980s experience with gun registration in the states of Victoria and South Australia, with one critic calling the one in Victoria
“an elaborate system of arithmetic with no tangible aim. Probably, and with the best of intentions, it may have been thought, that if it were known what firearms each individual in Victoria owned, some form of control may be exercised, and those who were guilty of criminal misuse could be readily identified. This is a fallacy, and has been proven to be the case.”

Gee, than why are they trying to block the Sale and Transfer of used Firearms between Private Citizens?

Does anyone know a gun owner who wants to keep their guns becuase the NRA told them to? Progressives cannot understand the idea of a citizen who has their own thoughts. It is just alien to them.

Simon, move to Australia.

Are you under the mistaken impression that either I or the linked source is in favor of gun control. The story is quoting a gun control advocate to illustrate how extreme their position is.

Is Frank willing to die to violate the rights of others? Does Frank realize people are willing to use force to keep their rights?

Keep writing your letters and yelling in the echo chamber. We are not Australians.

In regards to NJ Capital Utopia Trenton, maybe take a look at the feral animals who are killing each other continuously. EVERY Democrat controlled urban area is a third world sh*thole. Guns are not the problem, it's the subhumans who are uncivilized on the Democrat Plantations with the wink and nod of liberals who tap dance on blood.

Fran Carroll can go piss up a rope.

She is calling for nothing less than confiscation, and making believe that it’ll lead to a better world.

Well, Fran, here’s some news for you:

1) Even in the ultra-liberal Northeast, something like 95% of those “required” (by one or another unconstitutional law) to register their sporting rifles and magazines have utterly refused to do so. You aren’t going to get your confiscation EVEN in your home state, let alone most of the South or West. In fact, if such a ridiculous and unconstitutional law is passed, those poor unfortunates sent to collect firearms will more than likely leave the scene in a zippered plastic bag.

2) Confiscation, like all other gun laws (or all laws, PERIOD) will only be obeyed by those who are otherwise law-abiding. IOW, you will - at best - experience no drop in violent crime that involves firearms in some way, as those people who would be handing their firearms in don’t commit the crimes. However, in reality, we will experience a large RISE in gun-related crime, as those criminals who are armed (or who get armed afterwards) will now know that they have a safe working environment with no possibility of effective resistance from their victims. It’ll be the criminals’ dream come true, and our nightmare.

Take it from someone who owned enough normal capacity magazines to be tossed in the Rahway (NJ) State Prison for a couple hundred years...only a very minute percentage of the population will comply with any kind of confiscation order. Further, most of us will be buying (or making - HA, HA, HA) as much in the way of guns, magazines and ammo as we can afford...and we’re not buying them in order to hand them over to anyone (though, I am certain), delivering part of the ammo via private airmail is something that most gun owners will not hesitate to do.

To summarize quickly: I WILL NOT COMPLY. Your move.

To summarize even more quickly: Phuck you and the horse you rode in on!

Their government decided it without any input.

Nah, our Aussie friends had a very low gun crime rate before they confiscated guns.

Better idea?

Look at mexico. Mexico has some of the most strict gun control laws on our fine planet. And, ordinary folks who live there live in fear of (very well-armed) drug cartels and their gun toting, um, associates. The murder rate in mexico is stratospheric (there were over 25,000 homicides last year, according to cnn).

As Cali becomes more and more like our neighbors to the south, one fears the same dynamic of armed drug gangs controlling much of the "turf"; and unarmed citizens shaping their lives around personal safety worries.
