Tens of thousands of children unaccompanied by parents or relatives are flooding across the southern U.S. border illegally, forcing the Obama administration and Congress to grapple with both a humanitarian crisis and a budget dilemma.
An estimated 60,000 such children will pour into the United States this year, according to the administration, up from about 6,000 in 2011. Now, Washington is trying to figure out how to pay for their food, housing and transportation once they are taken into custody.
The flow is expected to grow. The number of unaccompanied, undocumented immigrants who are under 18 will likely double in 2015 to nearly 130,000 and cost U.S. taxpayers $2 billion, up from $868 million this year, according to administration estimates.
The shortage of housing for these children, some as young as 3, has already become so acute that an emergency shelter at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, has been opened and can accommodate 1,000 of them, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in an interview with Reuters.

Clearly the Obama administration did little to address this problem.
This section of the Homeland Security Act defines what “unaccompanied children” are discussed “facilities” for unaccompanied alien children, and the necessity for them to appear at their immigration hearings.

b) Functions
(1) In general
Pursuant to the transfer made by subsection (a) of this section, the Director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement shall be responsible for—
(A) coordinating and implementing the care and placement of unaccompanied alien children who are in Federal custody by reason of their immigration status, including developing a plan to be submitted to Congress on how to ensure that qualified and independent legal counsel is timely appointed to represent the interests of each such child, consistent with the law regarding appointment of counsel that is in effect on November 25, 2002;
(B) ensuring that the interests of the child are considered in decisions and actions relating to the care and custody of an unaccompanied alien child;
(C) making placement determinations for all unaccompanied alien children who are in Federal custody by reason of their immigration status;
(D) implementing the placement determinations;
(E) implementing policies with respect to the care and placement of unaccompanied alien children;
(F) identifying a sufficient number of qualified individuals, entities, and facilities to house unaccompanied alien children;
(G) overseeing the infrastructure and personnel of facilities in which unaccompanied alien children reside;
(H) reuniting unaccompanied alien children with a parent abroad in appropriate cases;
(I) compiling, updating, and publishing at least annually a state-by-state list of professionals or other entities qualified to provide guardian and attorney representation services for unaccompanied alien children;
(J) maintaining statistical information and other data on unaccompanied alien children for whose care and placement the Director is responsible, which shall include—
(i) biographical information, such as a child’s name, gender, date of birth, country of birth, and country of habitual residence;
(ii) the date on which the child came into Federal custody by reason of his or her immigration status;
(iii) information relating to the child’s placement, removal, or release from each facility in which the child has resided;
(iv) in any case in which the child is placed in detention or released, an explanation relating to the detention or release; and
(v) the disposition of any actions in which the child is the subject;
(K) collecting and compiling statistical information from the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of State on each department’s actions relating to unaccompanied alien children; and
(L) conducting investigations and inspections of facilities and other entities in which unaccompanied alien children reside, including regular follow-up visits to such facilities, placements, and other entities, to assess the continued suitability of such placements
(g) Definitions
As used in this section—
(1) the term “placement” means the placement of an unaccompanied alien child in either a detention facility or an alternative to such a facility; and
(2) the term “unaccompanied alien child” means a child who—
(A) has no lawful immigration status in the United States;
(B) has not attained 18 years of age; and
(C) with respect to whom—
(i) there is no parent or legal guardian in the United States; or
(ii) no parent or legal guardian in the United States is available to provide care and physical custody...
(g) Definitions
As used in this section—
(1) the term “placement” means the placement of an unaccompanied alien child in either a detention facility or an alternative to such a facility; and
(2) the term “unaccompanied alien child” means a child who—
(A) has no lawful immigration status in the United States;
(B) has not attained 18 years of age; and
(C) with respect to whom—
(i) there is no parent or legal guardian in the United States; or
(ii) no parent or legal guardian in the United States is AVAILABLE (emphasis added) to provide care and physical custody
Didn’t his admin have people in these countries (NGOs) pass around flyers telling them how to play the system?
Almost seems like this is being done purposely.
What do you mean? The Obama Administration actively encouraged the problem.
I looked into this when the “surprise” flow of kids was announced, around June.
I found contracts let out (on fbo.gov) in January for “services for unaccompanied minors” including housing, health, transportation to states far from the borders, counseling. The contracts mentioned 60,000 minors. So the “surprise” is somewhat of a surprise since the gov had clearly been planning it since at least January.
I found enough contracts awarded to realize that there is money to be made in the refugee business.

This flood was not accidental, rather, an orchestrated invasion. Our Republican Congress and the Obama administration were concerned
CLEARLY the democrats still don’t want to address the illegal problems they kicked down the road and now they see they can use illegals votes, they scream about the ‘kids/families’.
They refuse to work with Trump so much that they would rather see the gov shut down under his watch then to help solve the problem.
We have to reiterate as much as possible to fight their last hope of getting people to dislike him for hurting families.

With Hillary and obama, all you had to do was look at their early behavior to predict everything that would follow, especially with how they go about taking and holding territory.

It’s not like that’s a secret or anything. Just read the dedication to Alinsky’s book of their guiding principles to see it in black and white, and then look at them to see it in their hijacked rainbow of colors.
You’ll see, again and again, how they use misdirection and their blaming others for what they themselves are doing, time and time again, situation after situation.
It works, especially if they control the message via controlling the messengers, which they also have done with all but a few.
And, with those that they don’t control, they alinsky into silence.
Or at least try to. “TRUMP!” has been the antidote to all of the serpent’s poisons and, since the 2016 election, the odds favoring our recovery improve by the day!
From their earliest encounters with “TRUMP!” to those now, the way they react to him kinda reminds me of how the demons reacted to Jesus, even when other people around Him were clueless.
And similarly, everywhere “TRUMP!” goes, he casts them out with the truth he brings with him. Only then do things improve and return to functioning as they are supposed to.
