The FBI is determined to not repeat any of the mistakes identified in a harshly critical watchdog report on the handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation, Director Chris Wray said Monday at a congressional hearing at which he repeatedly sought to distance himself from his predecessor.
Wray told lawmakers that the FBI accepted the findings of the inspector generals report and has begun making changes, including about how it handles especially sensitive investigations. The FBI is also reinforcing through employee training the need to avoid the appearance of political bias, a key point of criticism in last weeks report, and has referred employees singled out by the watchdog to the agencys investigative arm for possible discipline.
The report makes clear that we have significant work to do, and as I said, were going to learn from the report and be better as a result, Wray said, even as Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee pounced on its findings to allege rampant bias within the FBI.
The departments inspector general, Michael Horowitz, appeared alongside Wray and repeated the reports central conclusions that the Clinton investigation was plagued by leadership missteps though its outcome was not tainted by political bias.

They will make sure not to text their slavish devotion to the DNC.
What mistakes ? You mean the law breaking. Got it. Yeah. It is usually a mistake, but not always. So how in the bizarro world, can you now guarantee that if the she-robot starts whirling around again, you wont do the exact same thing ?
Mistakes were made.
><
This all amounts to something like this:
“Don’t do that again. Now go to your room until you can behave”.
Ah ha! Avoid the “appearance’ of political bias. They can allow political bias in their investigations but don’t be putting it in emails or texts, dummies!
Wray should be fired over that one statement.

BINGO!
What a joke.
There should be no sensitive investigations. All should be the same. No two tier justice system.
Sorry they got caught and it won’t happen again!
All messages will self-destruct in 5 seconds!!!
The mistake wasn’t saying it, the mistake was getting caught 8 ways from Sunday.
The CORRUPTION was in the system and it was no mistake, it was willful intentional naked bias.
Feeling remorseful that an agent didn’t do MORE to influence the outcome of the election (from within an unelected office) speaks volumes.
18 Jun: Senator Grassley: Grassley Statement at Hearing on the DOJ Inspector General’s Report on 2016 Presidential Election
The Committee has yet to receive the two non-public sections of the report. One is classified and the other is described as law enforcement sensitive. I would appreciate if both of the witnesses here today would work to ensure the Committee receives them as soon as possible...
Mr. Comeys attorney tells us he is out of the country, although I saw he was in Iowa over the weekend. According to his twitter feed, he seems to be having a wonderful time. This is the second time since he was fired that Mr. Comey refused an invitation to testify here voluntarily. He has time for book tours and television interviews, but apparently no time to assist this Committee, which has primary jurisdiction over the Justice Department...
The Inspector General recently concluded in another report that former Deputy Director McCabe improperly authorized media leaks to make himself look good. Then he lied about it multiple times, both under oath and to Mr. Comey
Neither man would agree to come here and explain it to the Committee...

what happened to the following?
23 May: Grassley Seeks Removal of Remaining Redactions on Strzok-Page Texts
WASHINGTON Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today called on the Justice Department to provide unredacted copies of text messages between two FBI officials whose politically-tinged missives called into question their impartiality during their work on politically sensitive investigations. Reviews of less-redacted versions of the messages revealed previously-concealed details of excessive spending, including a $70,000 conference table, raising new questions about the rationale for the remaining redactions...
The manner in which some redactions have been used casts doubt on whether the remaining redactions are necessary and defensible, Grassley said in a letter today to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
Another exchange makes reference to the Obama White House running an investigation, though the officials name was initially redacted and details about the investigation are still unclear...
Accordingly, please provide unredacted copies of all text messages produced to the Committee no later than June 6, 2018...
In keeping with the requirements of Executive Order 13526, if any of the responsive documents do contain classified information, please segregate all unclassified material within the classified documents, provide all unclassified information directly to the Committee, and provide a classified addendum to the Office of Senate Security. Although the Committee complies with all laws and regulations governing the handling of classified information, it is not bound, absent its prior agreement, by any handling restrictions.

So why are all those involved then still working at the FBI?
Those were deliberate, criminal acts!
Congress needs to show some balls and not allow the growth of 4th, 5th or more branches of government in our massive, permanent Federal bureaucracy
Start by cutting the FBI budget in half
Weasel words, from the festering bucket of incompetents.
Those weren’t mistakes. They were deliberate an illegal acts.
Sorry to have not read far enough down before posting below an almost exact copy of your most brilliant remark.
...”avoid mistakes” ....There were no mistakes, as the actions during FBI investigation of the Clinton crimes were intended to clear her.
...”appearance of political bias” ....In other words, it’s ok to HAVE political bias as long as you don’t make it apparent.
Wray is spineless. We need a hard-nosed FBI Director like MSGT Lee Ermey (RIP) to kick ass!
Oh, you mean mistakes repeated in this investigation and others before it?
It would be funny if it weren’t so outrageous.
We’ve gone full circle: Government protects its own, including the OIG.
Director: FBI wont repeat mistakes noted in watchdog report ... now that we know how we were caught the first time.
