Or perhaps on the other hand he sees what literally everyone on the planet should see by now...HE is being set up to take the fall by his superiors. And perhaps he doesn’t want to take the sword for everyone else, particularly those above him. He knows that everything he’s done and said is known, maybe he’s getting out from behind the laser dot while he still can. Just maybe.
