"The VFW opposes this attempt to balance the budget on the backs of service members, veterans and their families," Fuentes said. "We opposed the TRICARE fee increases in last years NDAA and hope that the NDAA conference committee will once again defeat this proposal which would endanger the financial wellbeing of the brave men and women have worn our nations uniform."

Just treat us Vets as if we were illegals and give us 100% free healthcare anywhere we chose to be treated.
the d.c. uniparty can fund everything under the sun, including illegal aliens, but has to increase the burden on the faithful soldier and his widow. what a travesty.
The people who are most deserving of government support are the veterans. I hate to see cost-cutting focused on this population. They deserve better.
But, as a broad statement, I will say that the government needs to get out of the support business. Don’t support the immigrants. Don;t support the poor. Don’t support the elderly. The government is NOT supposed to be a charitable organization. I’d like support programs ended. But, the very last support programs to end should be the programs that support our veterans.
Veteran’s health benefits are not and never have been charity.
They are cheaper than paying troops wages equivalent to what a civilian employer would have to pay in the same circumstances.
When I joined the Marine Corps during the Carter administration we made the equivalent of $1.56 per hour, and lived either outdoors or in sixty man rooms with a common head.
Its deferring payment in a way that avoids paying the heirs of our troops as much money if they die.
It’s worse when the Veteran is also on Medicare as Tricare becomes their Secondary ins. And you have to add DoD Regs to Medicare Regs. NIGHTMARE. DoD Mandated 4 yrs ago Tricare Life use Base Pharmacy, which is NOT handicapped friendly, or Express Scripts. ES has a Bad Rep. Pay by check. NO ID Sign for regardless of retail cost of meds. We signed for our neighbors this month as it was 1 that had to be refrigerated, comes in a Styrofoam cooler with dry ice. But we also get others meds, we drive them over seems USPS drivers can’t read a a well a computer printed label. ES is 2 weeks to fill a first script, or refill.
Base is free. But not Senior/handicapped friendly. They really cut the Formulary back this year, and it is based on base size, ours is a small BUPERS records Navy base; subject to Holiday, Weekends, change of command, Duty station, or training. So not as easy to use or pick up as a private pharmacy. You call Pensacola for Refills 5 days early for that. Don’t let the script go over the due date year, it becomes non-fillable. Plus if it’s E-Scripted in you have to call and authorize it. Take several meds, you need a Spread Sheet to keep up with it, especially if there are 2 people Service member and Spouse.
VA VETS WERE THE FIRST TO BE REDUCED 75% ON PAIN MEDS. 3 MONTHS EARLY THAN CIVVIES.
