FBI Director Christopher Wray told reporters Thursday afternoon that he was "disappointed" by the findings of the Justice Department office of inspector general's (OIG) report on the bureau's conduct during the 2016 election, saying that the bureau accepted its recommendations.
As far as the report goes, there are some sobering lessons in there, Wray said in a brief press conference held shortly after the 500-page report was made public. Number one, the importance of trying to make sure we avoid even the appearance of bias in all of our work."
But he also voiced support for the integrity of the bureau as an institution, tacitly defending the law enforcement agency from months of broadsides from President Trump and other Republicans who have damned it as corrupt and biased.
The OIG report makes clear that weve got some work to do, Wray said. But lets be clear on the scope of this report. Its focused on a specific set of events back in 2016, and a small number of FBI employees connected with those events.
Nothing in the report impugns the integrity of our workforce as a whole, or the FBI as an institution.

Why the past tense? They are still trying.
Yup.
There sure are similarities between how Comey whitewashed the Clinton email investigation and how Horowitz, Wray, Rosenstein and Sessions are whitewashing Comey's investigation of the email investigation.
In the last Month.
1# Trump arraigned for Rosenstein to show Nunes & Gowdy the Ec documents. Rosenstein screwed them...Nothing happened
2# Trump again asked Rosenstein to show the documents...again nothing happened, and according to account Nunes & Gowdy told others they were Left to hang in the Brezze
3# The Nuness Congressional committee sent Trump Multiple letters asking that documents be provided by Rosenstein. Again, nothing happened.
4# Today, Trump was Briefed on the IG report by Rosenstein,
Think about it.
Just remember, nearly half the People in this Country have no problem with what these FBI Agents said and did.
Those same People cannot see the danger of having unaccountable Governmental Entities working to take down a Presidential Candidate that they happen to disagree with Politically.
Need different players and the ones in there now need to be dealt with, harshly. Starting with the Keebler elf.
Im not ready to give up on Horowitz yet, although I admit Im close. He did not write the conclusion that was DOJ or FBI. We would have to be as dumb as those FBI impersonators think we are if we read the report and cant see that the conclusion has no relationship with the report.
Its like having a mother write a letter to the teacher and having a kid scrawl a comment at the end
The tree of liberty is awfully thirsty.
Too little too late. 50% of the country has zero faith in federal law enforcement going forward, and zero faith in the justice system. Now looking back I believe they were never credible. Ruby Ridge, Waco, every single terrorist attack and school shooting that the FBI knew of but didn’t stop, I see malice on the part of the FBI in all of these things.
The DoJ employs 24,000 employees and another 40,000 in the Dept of Corrections.
The over all budget is 31 Billion.
Stop embarrassing yourself.
The FBI needs to close the DC headquarters and be relocated. No way they should be allowed to hobnob with the media and political swamp creatures.
agree All they had do was use Comey’s report and indict Hillary on the “excessively careless” handling of classified info. Having private unauthorized file servers and destroying evidence. They could have empaneled a grand jury 16 months ago.
Disappointed?
Nobody will trust the FBI for a generation.
Disappointed is all you can muster?
Hi Jeff.
Lets not forget Ruby Ridge, and their dumbass handling of Richard Jewel.
The DOJ and the FBI have to go.
If they are not going to held accountable, then they have to go.

Yes because they have way too much unchecked power and money to exist if they’re going to engage in these things.
This IG report was supposed to be the beginning of the end.
Should we hold out hope for the unredacted report?
Wray lie during the press conference, and shoul be fired on that basis alone.
No one.
And no we should not hold out hope for the unredacted report or anything else.
Our government is totally corrupt, absolutely unaccountable, run amok and rogue, and no one gives even a single shit or is going to do a single thing about it or anyone in it.
Even attempting to pay attention to this in an effort to remain informed is pointless unless one just wants to be pissed off without resolution.
These problems are not going to be solved by elections either.
They will either take all money and power for themselves leaving everyone else with nothing, or they will be removed from us by us.
That’s it.
