Two housekeepers in Vermont were hospitalized Wednesday after they unknowingly ate marijuana edibles that were left behind by guests at Shelburne Farms, police said.
The housekeepers, who have not been identified, decided to taste what they believed to be be malted milk balls placed in a box labeled salted caramel chocolates, Shelburne police told the Burlington Free Press.
Shortly after, both employees fell ill -- one of whom was so sick she was found lying in the inns driveway, the newspaper reported.

Most people would seek out edibles with THC in it, however, Marijuana can be eaten raw too, the actual plant. If you were to eat the plant, it’s important that it be fully dried out, like crumbly or flakey dried out. Green leaves are hard to digest.
I recall eating some small amount of MJ decades ago.
What I recall the most was that it can take a while before one feels any effects from the substance. It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how sensitive you are to that grade of THC.
Another recollection; after I had achieved a mild sensation from ingesting the herb, the effect would slowly decline then stop. Guess what though? With some kinds of marijuana, the sensation of being relaxed and such could be REVIVED hours later, as soon as you eat or drink some additional food. Not as strong as the first time, mind you, but I do recall the mild rumble and ‘aftershock’ when I had breakfast the next day. This was in the ‘Stoned’ Age of the 70’s.
I have no idea what is being consumed nowadays.
I guess I’m not surprised. Those educators always had the best stuff.
“State Marijuana Legalization Measures Headed For Passage, Polls Show”
the THC levels in today’s MJ is an order of magnitude above what we were used to in the 70s............I’ve read.......
That was for Michigan.
Dave’s not here!.............
“What ‘chu want? Good grammar, or good taste?”
These people were pot heads. Who knows what they were thinking. Perhaps they left a tip? Like hey man heres like a total tip for cleaning my room, man.
The “vapes” or vaporizers are very similar to the e-cigarettes smokers use. $10 “pen vapes” on eBay with three temperature settings work fine, although some people like to spend hundreds of dollars on their vape. The plant material (or concentrate) is heated to about 385F and the vapors are inhaled. There is no smoke and no combustion byproducts. Since I am using for reasons similar to you and do not want to get “high”, I use only a small amount of concentrate per session. Only two draws from the vape an hour or two before bed, which is approximately 6 mg of THC in my case. I also take one draw from a separate CBD cartridge. I bought $70 worth of leaf and cartridges in February and it is only half gone now.
I saw a recipe for something called firecrackers. You grind the weed in a coffee or spice grinder and sprinkle it on a peanut butter cracker. Wrap it in foil and bake for 15-20 minutes. My biggest question is how would one determine how much marijuana to use?
Yes it is an upscale place, but that is still no excuse.
So I have read as well. That means it stays in the fat cells of the body for a longer time. That also means the resin from smoking is likely to be more dense than years ago. Heavier or more dense resin from the smoke equals dirtier lungs in less time than before. I hear no one talking about dirty lungs and tracheas.
Ick, never ever eat food left behind by strangers.
I hate when that happens!
“Marijuana can be eaten raw too, the actual plant.”
Marijuana must undergo decarboxylation before consumption. If not, psychoactive effects are weak or non-existent.
There are many more cleaner methods to use it nowadays. Plus since it’s stronger you don’t use as much for the same effects!....
How much to use? Depends on one’s custom of usage.
I.E.; a typical rolled “cigarette” requires about half a teaspoon of filler. One smoke can last one person for a good while within a 24 hour period. If you want MJ Dust for your saltines, why not use the dust from a teaspoon to sprinkle over six saltines.
If you are lucky, your grindings will be small, fine particles, not much larger than Sage seasoning for poultry. Eat or two alone and see what effect they have on you after a wait of 30 to 90 minutes.
I can’t believe I’m advising on such a formerly ‘forbidden’ topic, but things change, don’t they?
