But hey, it speeds passing through tollbooths.

As if cameras couldn’t go up on freeways too for that purpose. The law generally goes, that if you can see it in public, it’s okay for the government to note it too.

License plate readers mean that they can track you even without the EZPass RFID device (assuming it’s the ‘sticker with a chip’ modern device used in Texas and midwest tollways). There’s no significant difference at this point.

Info from I-Pass was used in a divorce case in Illinois. Ex-wife’s lawyer used the I-Pass tracking to prove Husband was not where he said he was.
