Several photos of Prince George playing with a toy gun on Sunday sparked a heated debate on social media.
The 4-year-old future King of England was enjoying some playtime alongside his sister Princess Charlotte and friends when he was snapped playing with a plastic gun.
The young prince's mother, Kate Middleton, appeared to be enjoying the downtime as they watched Prince William play at the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy at Beaufort Polo Club.
Many took to Twitter to criticize Will and Kate for allowing their son to play with a toy gun.

Yep. I had a Johnny 7 Assault Rifle.
I don’t know if they still sell them, but probably not.
.
Wow, your poor kid.
So, how many years of therapy did it take before the voices in your head stopped telling you: Kill, kill, kill in that creepy movie echo chamber voice.
They $hit on the same kid before. Some putz prayed that George would become gay. Now this. Let the kid be a kid! I hope this kid can withstand the assaults. Why aren’t the parents yelling to defend their kid?
Is the UK doomed?
Fake collective outrage on the internet. I’ve never seen that before. /s
Joan Face: Alright, Mr. Mainway. But surely even you can see the danger in this next costume, which you call Johnny Combat Action Costume. This is an actual working rifle!
Irwin Mainway: An M-1, yeah.
Joan Face: I mean, this is a deadly weapon, and you’re selling it to children!
Irwin Mainway: The ammo’s not included. I mean, this is a very popular item, you know? Give the kid a little something extra! Field glasses, a little helmet there, the gun, you know, it makes ‘em feel like a real general! I mean, this product is very popular in Texas and Detroit!
Irwin Mainway, always closing.

We did that too, at recess back in the fifth grade, fighting our pretend battles in a grove of trees at the end of the school property. This was about 1972 and the Vietnam war protests were picking up. I could tell that some of the school staff were starting to look at putting an end to our fun so I got everyone together and put out the story that we were really reenacting Civil War battles so it was actually history education. The school staff thought that was splendid. They even set up chairs for the staff and other students to watch us reenact one of our “Civil War” battles. I was utterly bemused at their gullibility the whole time we “performed.”
Doomed to islam.
“”Doesnt she read the papers in her own country with all the gun deaths?””
WOW - that news must not have made the papers here... Thought guns weren’t allowed in the UK...a lot of “gun deaths?”
Too bad his Uncle didn’t take him for a ride in the Apache Gunship he used to Fly.
a bit too much of the noonday sun is shining on Britain lately
This little child, in 30 years or so, will be playing with nukes and lazers and all sorts of big boy toys. A toy gun, in light of his entire male line being active military, is the just about the dumbest reason for anyone to get in a huff.
Yeah, considering that Prince Harry has very likely killed Moslems, he’s definitely my kind of Royal ...
George had a toy knife and handcuffs too. Don’t look now outraged Brits, but George will likely be shooting game animals and birds with a real gun before you know it.
and don’t forget army men sets with dead Germans, surrendering Japanese, and goose-stepping Germans. Also the cowboy and Indian sets had dead horses.
