Dershowitz: Final nail in the coffin of the ACLU

Alan Dershowitz is one of the premier civil liberties attorneys in the country. He is the author of Trumped Up: How Criminalizing Politics is Dangerous to Democracy and The Case Against BDS: Why Singling Out Israel for Boycott is Anti-Semitic and Anti-Peace.

Dershowitz has been a longtime supporter of the American Civil Liberties Union. It's been decades since the ACLU was a truly non-partisan organization dedicated to the maintenance of our constitutional rights. But, as Dershowitz points out in this op-ed he penned for The Hill, the ACLU has now made it official policy to intervene in partisan politics.

Final nail? Wishful thinking. May as well wish for that "final nail" for the splc while we're at it. There is too much money to be gathered for them get shut down. They are, after all, liars, uh I mean lawyers. But then, isn't that the same thing?

That was my first thought as well. The phrase “final nail” implies that an organization is finished, done for. The ACLU’s latest move will help it. Donations from empty-headed liberals will probably increase.

I’m no fan of the ACLU but even I could see that they were principled to their mission by supporting the civil rights of commies and Klansmen equally. Now these phonies have made it clear that their mission is to be just another wing of the DNC.

This should be taught in school.

I bet the foundering members of the ACLU would be spinning in there grave to see what there organization has become 98 years after the founding... protecting civil rights is good but I believe that the organization is ran by people who don’t believe in civil rights and only see this group as one big piggy bank to raid and a source of political power to go after there enemies.

The ACLU of today is merely reverting to its original purpose.

It never was. Ever. Its founders were the inner circle of the American Communist Party, and one of its pillar strategies was to periodically defend a non-leftwing group in a highly visible way to immunize themselves from the truth of who they were. Read the history of the organization’s founders.
