I dont want to get beaten to death, stabbed and burnt alive, a slight woman with long blond hair and a checked shirt says. I want a gun to feel equal.
She is a member of one of the United States fastest-growing gun clubs, the jauntily named Pink Pistols.
Two years after the massacre at Orlandos Pulse nightclub, gay, lesbian and transgender Americans are nervous. According to the Human Rights Center (HRC), a US LGBTI advocacy group, 52 gay people were murdered in the US last year because of their sexuality, and 28 transgender people met the same fate.
In increasing numbers, they are fighting back by taking up arms.
Its brought them into lock step with pro-gun groups that havent, historically, been all that welcoming of gay people.
Australian journalist Patrick Abboud traveled to the US to meet some of the new gun-toting gay people, for a report to be broadcast on Australian news show The Feed on Tuesday.
It was a sobering experience, he told News.com.au.
There is one murder per week of a gay person purely because theyre gay, and thats really horrifying. The level of homophobia and transphobia in the USA is out of control and some people told me a gun is the difference between living and dying.
The Pink Pistols have been nicknamed the gay NRA, a reference to the controversial National Rifle Association that is a staunch proponent of pro-gun laws.
I would never have thought Id see the LGBTI community siding with incredibly conservative, right-wing, pro-gun advocates that have been publicly homophobic and transphobic that didnt make any sense, Abboud explained.
But after meeting some of the gun clubs members, Abboud said, there was a real fear that had only been stoked by the countrys rabid political landscape.

Well, nothing will keep you from being tossed off a building quite like a gun to the head of the imam who tries it. The NRA isn’t the problem.
That said, earlier today I saw a slightly built poofster on a street corner in a skirt asking for money for "gay rights," which I strongly suspected was his/her own bank account. Hard to imagine he/she being able to handle a gun. But oh lordy, what a way to paint a target on yourself in a downtown where office workers and conventioneers rub shoulders with marijuana tourists and homeless.
#LGBQWTF?
“52 gay people were murdered in the US last year because of their sexuality.” Yup. And we know who the criminals are: gay partners. Caution goes out the window when dealing with maladaptive people. Getting a gun is easier than leaving a sick homo relationship.
I would bet that as with all violent crime where people fall victim to members of their own demographic group the overwhelming percentage of murdered homosexuals are killed by other homosexuals.
And that’s not counting all that die because they get sick due to the risky behavior they engage in.
As for the nightclub *cough Muslim cough* they can’t lay that one on the rest of us.
I have never seen greater than 2%, and that was not broken down into male and female homo percentage of that < 2%.
I have NO problem with this--it is EVERYONE's right to be able to DEFEND themselves. The Second Amendment is for all Americans--not just straight ones.
Well, this is certainly going to put the libs in the throes of a dilemma.
LOVE IT!
Gays are about 1.8% of the population according to the most extensive study of the subject of which I am aware.
Imagine if I said I needed to carry a gun because I feel scared because I’m a white male Republican.
1. How can she verify how many gays were killed by guns last year? (Only 2% of the US population is actually homosexual, ya know; and "I am a homosexual" is NOT a "sign" somebody holds around their neck before being shot. Other than Iran and Iraq and Saudi Arabia and Somalia and Malaysia and Indonesia and Pakistan and Afghanistan.....)
2. Assuming her number is actually correct, how many of those "gays shot by guns" were murdered BY their homosexual partners, friends, attackers, thugs, and "nighttime assailants" in homosexual districts or homosexual relationships (that went bad) or homosexual encounters?
While we will not embrace their self-destructive lifestyle, we ought to approve their right to defend themselves.
Your #2 question was the first thought that crossed my mind, actually .....
[Its brought them into lock step with pro-gun groups that havent, historically, been all that welcoming of gay people.]
What horsesh**.
[But if Gays are liberals, should’nt they also be Anti-2nd Amendment as well?]
Pro-gun ownership is one of the very few issues that can cross all ideologies.
I’ve seen some otherwise flaming liberals that were more pro-2nd amendment than some so-called right-wing “golfers with guns”.
“Where is the evidence that these people were killed ONLY because of their sex-preference?”
Just about every month in DC, homosexuals and transvestites are targeted and beaten and sometimes killed. These are not robberies or drug crimes or even arguments. The victims are chosen because of their public behavior of holding hands or kissing or coming out of a homosexual bar or wearing dresses. The thugs just walk up to the victims and attack. Because the criminals are mostly black males, the stories rarely stay in the news more than a day or two.
OR....you could quit with the flaming display, so that nobody knows your business....
because the chances of prioritizing the necessary training are low.
If they were serious about staying alive, I would think abstaining from anal sex would go a long way...
