North Korea summit: Trump says meeting went "better than anybody could have expected" — live updates

President Trump and Kim Jong Un have concluded their official schedule of meetings in Singapore, meetings Mr. Trump said he thinks went "better than anybody could have expected." Mr. Trump also said he and Kim will be "signing" some sort of document.

But it's unclear yet exactly what that means. A press conference is scheduled for 4 p.m. local time, or 4 p.m. EDT, in which more details will come forward.

As they began, Mr. Trump said he thinks he and Kim will have a "terrific relationship," and Kim, through a translator, said North Korea had to overcome a number of "obstacles" to get to this moment.

The stakes are high -- the U.S. seeks nothing less than the complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and Kim wants to see the sanctions on the North eased....

You know, I don’t know, with all of these little nothings throwing their rotten tomatoes against the stout walls of Fort Trump, and the stupid, little Democrats running around whispering Russia, Russia, Russia, blah, blah, blah, And Cocaine Bob De Niro, and Crazy Joe and Stupid Mika, and, damn I could go on and on and on.

All of them are nothing. Absolutely f*cking nothing.

President Trump is the genuine article.

100% American made.

Kim’s grandfather was the founder of the North Korean state, so this marks a major change for his country.

Probably as significant as the Meiji Era was for Japan in the 19th Century. If NK is going to survive, it will need to change fast.

And Kim realizes that since NK cannot win a war with the US.

That is why he came to the table to sign an agreement to preserve the regime. Everything else is secondary.

Thank God the President made it out alive! This must have been a nightmare for security. Treachery was always possible here. Praise God the summit is over, a document signed and no one hurt except the naysayers.

The age gap worked in Trump’s favor.

In Asian culture, aged people are accorded great respect.

And since Kim is the younger man, that made things go more smoothly and helped to establish a bond between the two men.

It was interesting to watch and see it play out as it did.

When he said he didn’t need to “prepare” he was telling it like it is. The preparations were all complete. The deal was all done. Singapore was to give Kim the necessary prestige and to publicly sign what was already done. And get some photos.

Releasing the Pueblo is problematic. It is not likely to be seaworthy.

I expect we will hear that from the wise MSM commentators and The View ladies soon enough. Or there could be an intense campaign to convince America that DJT gave away everything, then gin up another “scandal” to hype in order to bury the actual Korea news as it surfaces over the yelling.

You're joking, but I was watching Bloomberg Network News (I know, but I'm in Canada on business, and the hotel doesn't have FNC) and the young lady "expert" on North Korea just said that there was nothing new that wasn't already put on the table in 1994 by the Clinton Administration. Mind you, the host and the young lady admitted they didn't know what actually went on at the meeting.

Unbelievably, they were having a cow over the agreement to cease "war games" with the South Koreans pending progress on carrying out what was agreed upon. They basically said that they didn't think Trump consulted with the Pentagon; that Trump didn't understand what a huge concession this was; and that this was the result of Trump not preparing for the summit. Actually Carter negotiated a deal, while Clinton was President, to give NK their nuke reactor.

Trump just fixed the NK mess 2 of the 3 worst Democrat Presidents saddled the world with

I am sure they had a lot of great advice from the careerists over at the State Department too.
