The best distillation of the Trump Doctrine I heard, though, came from a senior White House official with direct access to the president and his thinking. I was talking to this person several weeks ago, and I said, by way of introduction, that I thought it might perhaps be too early to discern a definitive Trump Doctrine.
No, the official said. Theres definitely a Trump Doctrine.
What is it? I asked. Here is the answer I received:
The Trump Doctrine is Were America, Bitch. Thats the Trump Doctrine.
It struck me almost immediately that this was the most acute, and attitudinally honest, description of the manner in which members of Trumps team, and Trump himself, understand their role in the world.
I asked this official to explain the idea. Obama apologized to everyone for everything. He felt bad about everything. President Trump, this official said, doesnt feel like he has to apologize for anything America does. I later asked another senior official, one who rendered the doctrine not as Were America, Bitch but as Were America, Bitches, whether he was aware of the 2004 movie Team America: World Police, whose theme song was America, F*** Yeah!
Of course, he said, laughing. The president believes that were America, and people can take it or leave it.
Were America, Bitch is not only a characterologically accurate collective self-appraisalthe gangster fronting, the casual misogyny, the insupportable confidencebut it is also perfectly Rorschachian. To Trumps followers, Were America, Bitch could be understood as a middle finger directed at a cold and unfair world, one that no longer respects American power and privilege. To much of the world, however, and certainly to most practitioners of foreign and national-security policy, Were America, Bitch would be understood as self-isolating, and self-sabotaging.

“to most practitioners of foreign and national-security policy, Were America, Bitch would be understood as self-isolating, and self-sabotaging”
Hmm, most of those practitioners have been causing America to lose for decades, and Trump is causing America to win.
What it is, is being tired of our allies diverting what they would have spent on defense into their socialistic pipedreams, and then lording it over us for not following suit, as if they are so "enlightened" without caring that we paid for them to live defense-free while we spent that "peace dividend" on a global military presence on their behalf.
Trump is telling our allies that it's time for them to beware the enemies at their gate, because we're focusing on the ones at our gate now.

“Liberals want to be liked. Conservatives want to be respected.”
With the “Liberal” approach, we are neither liked nor respected. With the conservative, we are respected, and, ultimately, liked.
Followed by, “Run, bitches...”
The essence of the female psyche: “this” means “not this.”
Tired of effete metro-residents telling us what we REALLY mean when we define something.
It's a bit more genteel than
Some times I wish sometimes I could just use an only I:-)
If the US wins gold on the last day and some small countrys anthem has not been played yet, Jeff thinks we should play theirs just so everyone gets a chance.

Just like the stupid participation trophys. Designed to kill competitiveness and a work ethic fed by the will to win. Backed by Pablum Pushers.
It is simply amazing how deeply globalism has become embedded in the minds of the world. I encounter liberals often who are terrified that Trump will isolate us.
These people have probably never even entertained survival without the government teat.
Americans are, or were at least, incredibly selfless and generous to the rest of the world. Additionally we understood sacrifices and making due with what you have.
One gets the feeling these crybabies would fall apart without their latte from Starbucks or netflix.
Donald Trump is pursuing policies that undermine the Western alliance, empower Russia and China, and demoralize freedom-seeking people around the world. The United States could be made weakerperhaps permanentlyby the implementation of the Trump Doctrine.
And here again, blatant fear wrapped in a strong appeasement flavored package.
As another freeper commented too, it is amusing that the author considers countries of the 'western alliance' to be superior or even helpful. One thinks he has not recently read about rapes, no-go zones, and knife/acid attacks on the streets of London, for instance. In fact Russia has kept herself in better shape than London or France, or even Canada.
At any rate I hope to make use of "We're America, Bitches" often. And let's send a banner of it to Trudie the dancing dressup queen.
Right on. Kudos to you!
This is such made up tripe.
Oh come on, it was a delightful read.
I’m still not over celebrating the November 2016 win, and this was just more pain from the Left.
I could see and hear his delusions from start to finish, and it was wonderful.
I LOVE it!! I see tee shirts, bumper stickers, etc.
The Trump Doctrine.
“another Jonah Goldberg mental masturbation exercise”
Jeffrey, not Jonah. (Related? I dunno.)
It was written in that same pseudo-intellectual tone. My mistake.
“It was written in that same pseudo-intellectual tone.”
You’re absolutely right. It sounded like sanctimonious Jonah.
I’m sure nobody spoke the phrase, “We’re America, Bitch”, but he’s entitled to make up stuff just like the rest of the leftist media. And I like the phrase, because it’s sooo Trump-ish.
