U.S. won't bring up North Korea's human rights issues at Singapore summit

WASHINGTON — Wounded from torture and starving, Grace Jo's father died on a train heading to a North Korean prison camp, a fellow inmate told his family. His crime: illegally possessing a bag of rice during the 1990s famine.

Jo escaped across the river to China in 1998, and is now a U.S. citizen and college student in suburban Washington. She is deeply concerned that President Donald Trump is preparing to make peace with the "monster," as she put it, who runs her native country.

"He should not make a deal with terrorists," Jo told NBC News. "This regime will never give up its nuclear development."

When Trump meets Kim Jong Un in Singapore on Tuesday, he will be sitting down with the leader of one of the most brutal and repressive regimes in modern history — a country that has committed "unspeakable atrocities" on a vast scale in a manner reminiscent of Nazi Germany, according to a 2014 United Nations investigation.

The do-gooders are going to hate this, but if we want a denuclearized Norklandia, we have to specifically exclude any discussion of their Crimes Against Humanity.

In fact, we may have to offer open-ended asylum to Kim and his top 100 in perpetuity, if they ever need it.

If sending them off to the Riviera to live with the other ousted dictators means freeing North Korea from Communism, then it could be a good trade.

Couldnt agree with you more.

What these assholes want is a full blown GD war to do their fake news shit.

Trumps right, if it aint going no place, walk out. If its going good, then a little at a time.

Reagan did it and it worked.

Turkey comes to mind, as well as China.

Oh dear. I am half-Korean and weary of the REALPOLITIK approach. Not because of my ethnicity but because *practically* speaking, bringing in human rights — as Reagan was advised to do with the Soviets (in contrast with “Nixonian Realism”) — helped usher in the collapse of the Soviet Union and to this day laid some of the groundwork and justification for freedom movements throughout the former Soviet states.

North Korea is, for all in intents and purposes, the last bastion of the Soviet Union and last major holdout of the Cold War.

Actually Reagan deviated from “Nixonian Realism” and incorporated human rights as a focal point for engaging with the Soviets.

Trump even ended his SOTU speech by bringing in an NK defector with crutches.

Too bad, but one thing at a time.
If you have a problem with not dealing with NK atrocities, feel free to bring it up with 0bama, Bush, Clinton and Chinese president Xi too.

Figures NBC will find something to try and take away from this major accomplishment.

Since American women have killed nearly 60 million of their own children since 1973, is the USA in a position to pontificate?

I think not.

Jimmy Carter was obsessed with the Shah of Iran’s human rights record.

How did that work out for the world?

Trump is the best deal-maker to address the human rights issues in the appropriate way.

Trump has taken action on issues like this more than any other president in modern times.

Bottom line is that the Democrat’s mouthpiece, a.k.a. the MSM, want Trump to fail here. That’s why they are now trying to raise the ante on Trump’s behalf.

Look, everyone knows and understands that NK is hell on earth, but a hunter doesn’t run wildly toward a skittish deer before he puts it down. He goes slow and works methodically to achieve the desired results. Same here. Patience brings results, but the corrupt MSM wants to purposely scare the deer away.

I have no problem with this.

A country that has aborted 60+ million of its own unborn children over the last 45 years has no business lecturing anyone about "human rights issues."
