Shameful: McConnell Confirmed Only 3 Trump Judges in 2 Weeks
conservative-daily.com ^ | 6/9/18 | Max McGuire

For months, we have worked with tens of thousands of you to force Congress to cancel the August recess. The argument was simple: Congress had not earned a vacation. With hundreds of bills and nominations stalled, we bombarded Congress with millions of FaxBlasts threatening to remove any Congressman or Senator who took their vacation.

We forced Mitch McConnell to cave. He cancelled practically all of the August recess and ordered Congress to start working for their constituents.

But after the press conference ended, McConnell went on with business as usual. He sent Congress on a three day weekend and is refusing to stop Democrats from obstructing everything. Under the current Senate rules, Democrats can demand 30 hours of debate on each and every nominee. There are over 300 nominees that they have been obstructing. Back to back, it would take over 9,000 hours (375 days) to confirm every nominee.

But that is a best case scenario. The fact of the matter is it takes much longer because Congress has other work to accomplish.

There were three district court judges put to a vote this week. Their names were introduced on May 24 and Democrats used every tool at their disposal to delay the final cloture votes. After all of the delay and obstruction, they were finally put to a vote on June 5.

Chuck Schumer made it take 13 days to confirm just three nominees, and when they finally did get their vote, they each got more than 80 votes. They're not controversial. Democrats just want to block everything.

At this pace, it would take Congress 4 years to confirm all of Trump's nominees. This is shameful. We forced the GOP leadership to reluctantly cancel their vacation. Now it is time to force them to finish this!

McConnell can't change the filibuster rule reducing debate time from 30 to say 8 hours because Murkowski, Collins and McCain (who won't resign) won't vote for it.

But McConnell adamantly thwarted and sunk primary challenges to these liberal republicans so he's still responsible.

And let’s face it........canceling the August recess is really (likely) only to thwart Trump from firing Sessions and appointing a recess AG.

A recess appointment wouldn’t have happened anyway because the senate would have stayed in pro-forma session during the August break.

So this recess appointment talk is pointless.

It pains me to say this but at least he is doing a better job than Ryan....slightly.

McConnell could also change Senate rules requiring 60 votes to pass legislation to a simple majority but refuses to do so yet the Democrats will almost certainly do that when they regain control of the Senate.

Ryan is now playing for a job in CNN or MSNBC. He knows he has no future as an elected official. And, since Boehner is always drunk, he won’t last. McCain’s dead. That leaves Ryan.

A cruise missile would solve most of these “Congress” problems.

Trump should consider sending one their way.

I thought I heard McConnell says any House amnesty bill would not be voted on in the Senate.

As I thought the canceling the August break was to keep Trump from making ANY recess appointments.

.…….let’s eliminate the Senate and the House and have an “ELECTED” dictator every 4 years.

An elected dictator is just an Executive Orders on Steroids.

The only thing produced in the 21st Century in the House and Senate is lots of corruption. They’ve become a joke!

At the end of his/her first 24 months, the elected dictator would have to withstand a confidence vote. Not an election, he/she must simply obtain permission of the people to stay in office.

this recess appointment talk is pointless...

McConnell could easily recess the Senate which would defeat the RAT delaying tactic. Its not a natural given that he won't recess. McConnell's refusal to do so fully reveals McConnell as the Swamp Lord that he is.

At this time a recess appointment is irrelevant since they’re only in office til January and the new Congress.(Art 1, Sect 3(2))

Turtle Face needs to step down. He’s too busy looking for his spine, guts, and gonads like his worthless counterpart, Paul Ryan, who can’t leave quick enough to satisfy us.

Trump needs to publicly challenge McConnell to get all pending nominees approved by the 4th. Give him a deadline, suggest he resign if he can’t get the job done.

True, but neither will he bring it up for a vote to show the electorate the YEAs\NAYs; it hurts the establishment.

This slow pace is to build the case that the Senate MUST remain open during August. This is Turtleman showing so smarts. I’m no fan of Republicans but this is a wise move at this point. It gives the evil donkey all the rope he needs to hang himself.
