Alice Marie Johnson's life changed on Wednesday -- and she has US President Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian West to thank.
And thank them she did as soon as she left an Alabama prison after 21 years behind bars.
"I feel like my life is starting over again," an emotional Johnson told reporters outside the prison in Aliceville.
Trump commuted the first-time nonviolent drug offender's life sentence on Wednesday, one week after Kardashian pleaded her case in an Oval Office meeting with the President.
"I am going to make you proud that you gave me this second chance in life. And I will not disappoint the American public or the world that has so much faith in me," Johnson told CNN.
"It means that someone finally saw me, someone finally heard me, someone had mercy on me -- and that was President Trump, and so I'm so thankful for him and what he's done."

The Dims will need to beef up their plantation police.
That’s a very nice thing for her to say.
CNN hopes she fails.......
Many criminals never stop unless incarcerated or eliminated.
HOORAY Alice Marie Johnson
Good for her! I wish her well.
Alice gets life
Hillary plods around the planet
Yes it is. I hope she has it in her to live up to her promises.
When she was in prison the fake news always called her a small time drug dealer, sweet old grandma, wants to bake cookies and quilts now, etc.
Now that President Trump commuted her sentence, which was a mistake and goes against his campaign promises, the media will finally tell the truth. She was the leader of a multi-million dollar cartel that moved tons of cocaine.
She should never see the light of day. She should have stayed in prison and mentored the small timers who will only be in for a few years.
I’m sure Bill Maher hopes something bad happens to her.
Dems may set her up to commit a crime. Make the president look bad trumps all!!
21 years seems more than enough for her crime. I approve of this pardon, but I don’t think M. Ali should receive one, for that would be a slap to the Vietnam veterans who served.
Not a pardon...commutation of sentence. Just sayin..
I believe that this Alice woman will do well with her freedom. She is 61 years old. By that age most people have a clue.
I'm all for freeing non-violent offenders who have served a portion of their time and are not recidivist and have demonstrated concrete steps that their lives are in order.
That’s not what this source reports:
I am a YUGE supporter of President Trump.
He said big time drug dealers, like Grandma here, should fry.
He caved to the Karkrashian crowd. Not very impressive.
By making President Trump proud, she will also be making herself and her grandchildren proud. A Twofer.
Right, commutation; she still can’t vote in AL without a pardon or can she?
It does sound like she got a disproportionately severe sentence
Shes already served 21 years, and she probably cleaned up her life a lot while in prison. She could be a real force for good and I think he was right to commute her sentence.
