HOW IS THIS LEGAL?
Twitter sent out notices to several investigative reporters and media outlets on Friday including: Wikileaks, Julian Assange, Kim DotCom, Cassandra Fairbanks, Roger Stone, Matt Couch and The Gateway Pundit.
The liberal and Democrat-connected attorneys for Aaron Rich are demanding Twitter turn over all direct messages from these accounts to Aarron Richs attorneys.
Aaron is the brother of Seth Rich, the DNC operative who was murdered mysteriously in the summer of 2016. There have been no leads to the murder of Seth Rich. Aaron Rich is suing conservative activists and media outlets for allegedly spreading conspiracy theories about the slain staffer.
On Friday Twitter sent out letters to several conservatives and media outlets including Wikileaks informing the account owners that the attorneys for Aaron Rich are seeking information from the private accounts.

Read the case. Please dont mistake your google search for my law degree.
There is something really odd about this murder.
I had relatives murdered. I have read of many murders where it took a long time to find the murderer.
Without exception, whether the family was rich or poor, influential or not, the family was desperate to find the killer.
More than desperate, they were in agony.
This family’s behavior is odd.
What exactly is the basis of the claim -- that Seth Rich was fired and can't get a job anywhere because his reputation has been tarnished?
He wants to sue anyone who has suggested that there's something fishy with the murder.
Defamation requires little proof of damages as damages are presumed when you falsely accuse someone of murder, theft and the like.
LOL. I’m surprised they did not subpoena Free Republic too.
That is not his claim at all. Read the lawsuit.

OK. The content of the article doesn’t reflect the plain facts laid out in the lawsuit. The article only mentions the defendants’ statements about SETH Rich, but doesn’t mention that AARON Rich is claiming that HE was slandered.
Would "zero hours" be "countless hours"?
So who did the defendants accuse of murder, theft and the like? Seth or Aaron?
I concur!
I tend to agree...most families want to find the trigger-guy.
In this case, they want to have a clean slate that says that Seth Rich had nothing to do with WikiLeaks. The significance of this is not apparent.
I think none of this discussion would be going on today if the robber-dude who shot Rich supposedly....had just robbed him. The fact that nothing was stolen...muddles up the whole story.
As for WikiLeaks suggesting Seth Rich was on their team? Well...if this was made up....then why suggest it? Somewhere out there....there is a missing hour of walking time that Seth Rich had, and no one can account for that time or who he might have been talking to.
You are correct. The publication is only disturbed because they got a subpoena. They didnt tell you what the lawsuit was about because it would make their outrage over the subpoena look stupid. But keep in mind Gateway Pundit more times than not only tells half the story.
This is why its best to do a little checking before falling hook line and sinker for what some doofus writes in an online magazine called Gateway Pundit. They are certainly not the only bad source by any stretch, but they seem to have no problem going off the deep end without even doing any cursory research. One day they are going to be sued big time. Lack of due diligence removes their First Amendment immunity about printing false material if its defamatory.
I think he’s looking to cash in any way he can. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2018/03/27/brother-of-slain-dnc-staffer-seth-rich-sues-right-wing-activists-newspaper-over-conspiracy-theories/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.c31171050b6e
Much of what was written in the complaint is totally unnecessary, but typical of what the media oriented lawyers working for the left write. It looks like something Avenetti or Aldrich would file.
Unless he has some other source of funds Mr. Rich is unlikely to be able to afford his legal team for long, and many of his targets are likely to have limited funds to even pay a judgment if he wins his case.
So the real reason the case was filed probably isn't the case itself. It may be an attempt to gather information from Wikileaks and others, or to generate media interest.
Why would a supposedly intensely private guy who has a security clearance and wants to avoid publicity launch a lawsuit guaranteed to create a national and international media circus? And of course force him to hand over a lot of information in discovery - like Seth's and his phone records, computers, etc.
Even IF the two banditos who shot Seth were ONLY robbing him... the fact remains that AFTER he left the bar and BEFORE he got 'robbed', Seth was beaten up (what the alphabet agencies call 'interrogation'). None of the 'media' or his family seem interested in investigating that facet of the incident.
Good points all.
The suit is against some individuals and the Times. It is a tort action so it is probably done on contingency. No fee from the plaintiff but the attys get a percent if they win. This is typical in personal injury cases.
The suit is written to paint the picture of what the defendants supposedly did. Of course it is going to maximize every bad thing. This is not only common, but pretty much required. You want judges to take your case seriously. That would not happen if the plaintiff just said Ive been defamed.
The trial lawyers job is to paint a picture for the judge and the jury. The complaint filed in this case does a pretty good job of causing the reader to be outraged. And if it is proven to be truethose defendants have real problems.
Just suppose Aaron’s lawyer is the smartest guy in the room and he is using Aaron to get information that the cops reputedly were not interested in tracking down.
I suspect the lawyers on both sides will be serving papers on on a long list. The discovery process works for both sides.
I would also suggest that there are very likely people who are not happy that this is being stirred up. Aaron’s lawyers have already demonstrated that they do not fear to go where others have not. The defendants lawyers will be equally aggressive.
