FULL TITLE: "Al Gore blamed Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky for costing him the presidency but power-mad Hillary had already torn apart the president and the VP"
Al Gore never forgave Bill Clinton for 'betraying' him over the Monica Lewinsky scandal and costing him the 2000 election, a new book reveals.
A new book claims that Gore felt Clinton's 'impeachment cast a permanent shadow on their joint accomplishments' and ruined his chance of succeeding him as president.
Gore's camp thought that Clinton 'did not want Gore to succeed' against George W Bush after he was impeached following his affair with Lewinsky.
First In Line: Presidents, Vice Presidents and the Pursuit of Power gives fresh insight into the dark tensions at the heart of the relationship between Gore and Clinton.
The two men were like 'brothers' but their friendship turned to animosity in part due to Hillary Clinton clashing with Gore as she built her own power base in the White House.
As Gore sees it there has been 'no closure' on the feud and he only endorsed Hillary in a Tweet four months before the 2016 election amid panic from Democrats.
Clinton's legacy as president is being re-examined in the #MeToo era, and earlier this week he was challenged about the Lewinsky affair on NBC's Today show.
First in Line, by New York Times bestselling author Kate Andersen Brower, takes a different track and looks again at his relationship with Gore.

Hey Al, its your foghorn mouth and your empty head that cut you out.
.
I was living in Tennessee at the time. That was a big deal.
Gore is correct, imho. Also, Ralph Nader splitting the moonbat vote in Florida didn’t hurt. Thank God for Ralph Nader.
Gore lost even though he tried to steal the election. His team was not smart enough to win and the courts were against the left wing nut!
The Goron is rather judgemental, considering that he got busted for being a “sex-crazed poodle” who molested female masseuses.
LMAO, you can’t make stuff like this up!!!
What an understatement. That was pure fascism. I was ashamed of our government that day. And Jackboot Janet thought she could be elected governor of Florida.
The mediots promptly showed us happy smiling pictures of Elian.
FAG. F#ck Al Gore.
Gore lost because his chakra wasn’t aligned.
Another reason to make Monica a saint.
against his fathers demands that González be returned to Cuba.
Yes, and he did it of his own free will(which does not exist in Cuba) while his parents were on a state paid vacation(imprisoned) in a gated compound.
Actually, he should blame the democrats in the US Senate at the time of the impeachment and trial.
Had they voted to convict and remove Bill, Algore would have been running as the incumbent in 2000.
He would have creamed GWB in Florida...even with Ralph (bless his lil ol heart) Nader.
AlGore was Bill Clinton’s insurance policy.
Gore with personality of cardboard
Just think if he had won.
The economy would have tanked due to severe restrictions to stop global warming. But today we could have avoided the tsunami waves that caused all of the Florida and Gulf areas 100 miles inland to be perpetually underwater today. And our daily temperatures in all 50 states of 110 to 125 degrees starting in late March and ending in November wouldn’t have happened. What a climate hero Gore might have been.
Whatever may have happened,Al,the main thing is that neither you nor Hillary got elected & we got a real president now. I shudder to think what it would be like right now if either of you had been elected.
One of the few instances where I agree with Al Gore, but not for the same reasons.
I have long belicved that the correct way for this situation to have been handled would be for Gore to confront Clinton in oh, March of 1998, with the ultimatum, “Either your resign or I will”. Pretty unlikely that Clinton would have resigned, but if he had Gore would be an incumbent President and that alone would have helped him to beat Bush. Or, Clinton could have dug his heels in, and Gore resigned, then run in the 2000 primaries as the person with the dignity not to remain aligned to Bill Clinton. That as well would have been good enough to make the difference in the electoral college against Bush.
But Gore did not have the courage or the instinctive leadership to do that, so he didn’t and Clinton dragged him down. Not as bad thing for the country.
The entire Clinton and Gore family could all drop dead today, from natural causes of course, and I’d never miss them.
