CNN star Don Lemon praised his colleague April Ryan for shouting questions during Tuesdays White House press briefing, essentially encouraging reporters to interrupt their peers before offering a tortured explanation of patriotism.
Ryan interrupted White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders during Tuesdays press briefing, repeatedly asking if President Trump is aware that NFL players who protest during the anthem are doing so because of police-involved shootings, as opposed to disrespecting the flag. Sanders attempted to call on a different reporter, but the CNN contributor shouted over everyone in the room until the press secretary acknowledged her.
The president has made his position crystal clear, Sanders said as Ryan continued to shout over everyone in the room. I let you rudely interrupt me, and your colleague; Im going to ask that you allow me to finish my answer. I would be happy to answer it if you would stop talking long enough to let me do that. The president has made his position crystal clear on this topic. He feels strongly that standing for our national anthem is something that we should do something that matters to what makes our country special, unique and what sets us apart.
While several critics took to Twitter to call Ryans outburst rude, Lemon applauded Ryan for her behavior during the briefing.
Amen, April. More of that in the briefing room, April. Following up and getting an answer. I absolutely applaud you, Lemon said while clapping after the exchange was replayed on "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer."

Fully agree. Sarah needs to employ her mommy training. You do not give in to a tantrum and if it continues, you put the kid in time out. So Sarah should give Ryan or Costa or anyone else who does the same a warning and the next time they interrupt in the same briefing, the reporter should be escorted out of the room by Secret Service or White House police.
They are acting like children - they should be treated like children.
After one outburst and a warning to not do it again, she should have whoever does it, REMOVED. If they all leave, good. No need for this comedy to continue. During eight years of the POS president, we had not one outburst, not a one. No one questioned anything said, just nodded, took notes, and published it as true in every regard.
April needs to be bitch-slapped (although she already has the bitch part down)
That’s hilarious, the bird must be named April. lol
WHY is CNN on at all the airports?
The world wonders...
Well said. CNN is a fast failing cable network and any bit of attention they can attract with brutish bahavior is better than their content.
As for why Don Lemonboy is in that position.....no sexual imagery intended.....
I am reminded of a discussion at the (then) Big Eight public accounting firm where I worked. It was a rare lunch out with one of the interviewing/hiring partners at the firm and a couple of the staff and senior accountants were brave enough to ask why a particularly incompetent new hire was still around. His response was probably a little too honest.
"Hiring her was a two-fer: she's female and she's black."
That was over thirty years ago when both women and blacks were under represented in big name firms and there was a concerted effort to correct it. It's worked all too well because a solid majority of staff at the big firms are now women.
Don Lemonboy is black and gay so CNN would be remiss in their libtard hiring practices not to jump at the chance to hire him on, regardless of his low level of performance. That acceptance of mediocrity is just like the female black lacky we were inquiring about nearly 35 years ago.
More childish screaming and throwing tantrums????
That is racist! Lemon and Ryan would not to that to a black president but feel perfectly fine with disrespecting a white one.
And this is the person to whom some Americans turn for news?????
I watched that entire press conference. Ryan was rude beyond belief. If a child acted like that, they’d be put out of the room. Oh, wait, she IS a child.
I’ve said before that the press secretary’s office needs to monitor what these reporters say, and the president or the press secretary needs to ask them to defend what they’ve said. Only then would a reporter get to ask a question.
There should be a strict rule that reporters raise their hands and not speak until called. That includes shouting out “follow up” questions when they don’t like the answer. Even first graders can learn to do that. First time they break the rule they get one month suspension. Second time they at gone for good.
I totally agree...WH pressers have become a real circus, especially since President Trump was elected.
I completely agree.....pull them all.
LOL! I’d love to hear Sarah say that to one of those turkeys.
He’s a “star” now?
I hear ya, this writer Brian Flood uses the word “star” very loosely.
