With just $265 million worldwide after just under two weeks, with little hope of legs, Solo: A Star Wars Story will both be a genuine box office whiff and the lowest-grossing Star Wars movie of all time ... the Ron Howard-directed sci-fi prequel is destined for a domestic cum between $185m and $215m, depending on the breaks. If it ends up under $209m, it'll have a lower raw domestic number than the original 1980 release of The Empire Strikes Back, not even accounting for reissues and inflation ...

Solo isn't the first time that Star Wars has faced accusations of disappointment. The Phantom Menace was greeted with a flurry of "What went wrong?" articles after it "only" earned $64 million in its Fri-Sun weekend ... I doubt it can survive another "Last Jedi", however - "Solo" itself was not that bad a movie. "Last Jedi" was terrible, and "Solo" suffered the consequences. JJ Abrams will have to do an amazing job to salvage the franchise.

Solo quite simply bombed because nobody wants to see anyone play Han Solo except Harrison Ford. So unless Harrison could shave 50 years off his age, that wasn’t happening.

Before even reading the article, the hysterical over-emphasis on women and grrl-power in not only the Star Wars franchise but in the Marvel franchise and action films in general is obvious. I can think of exactly one movie in which it's worked - Wonder Woman, in which the protagonist was always female.

In everything else, getting hit over the head with boring, over-powered women while the male characters are pushed off to the side makes for movies which the feminists (who don't watch such movies) love and no one else wants to see.

Me and my two sons were all ready to see this film, until we saw an interview by Donald Glover in which he said that Lando was “pansexual” and hinted this would be portrayed somehow. All three of us decided we had no interest in seeing it after that. Who the hell wants to see galactic man’s man Lando turned into a fag by the SJW feminists at lucasfilm?
