President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who has been indicted by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, attempted to tamper with potential witnesses, Mueller said in a court filing on Monday.
Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, asked the judge overseeing the case in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to revoke or revise an order releasing Manafort ahead of his trial.
Manafort was released to home confinement after his arraignment in October.
Mueller has indicted Manafort in federal courts in Virginia and Washington, D.C., with an array of allegations from money-laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent, to bank and tax fraud. Manafort has pleaded not guilty.
FBI Special Agent Brock Domin, in a declaration filed with Mueller's motion, said Manafort had attempted to call, text and send encrypted messages in February to two people from "The Hapsburg Group," a firm he worked with to promote the interests of Ukraine.

Even his old business partners have nothing good to say about him. The reason he didn’t work in the USA since 1998 was that he had managed to cheat everyone and no one wanted to have anything to do with him.
He wanted to talk about Golf and the Grandkids.
Hey, it worked for Clinton and Lynch.
Mueller may get what’s coming to him yet.
I haven’t given up hope.
If I were Trump, I’d give Sessions until next January to get with the program. Otherwise I’d send him packing and look for a real hard ass to clean up Washington.
Manafort could have lawfully accomplished the same goal by delivering a public statement to the news media in this European person's home town.
The local news media would have contacted that person, read Manafort’s statement out loud, and asked for any comments.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful post with me!!
I genuinely appreciated it. Your analysis and insight are brilliant!!!
I wish that President Trump would hire Dan Bongino in some key DOJ or perhaps FBI position to tackle this truly terrifying DEEP STATE COUP ATTEMPT!!!
Mule Face and his operatives are literally trampling over the civil rights of basically decent citizens in this clearly UNCONSTITUTIONAL nightmare that must be stopped SOON!!!
I think Trump would love to fire Sessions. Mueller, however, is Sessions’ insurance policy. As long as Mueller is investigating, he will charge—or try to charge—Trump with obstruction if he fires Sessions.
“Sessions, whose blindside recusal gifted us with this never-ending witch hunt, is a disgrace.”
Only according to your tired narrative, repeated a thousand times but never proven. You simply have no way of knowing whether a different, more forceful AG could have avoided a witch hunt - for all you know, a more forceful AG might have triggered something much worse than the Mueller joke of an investigation.
Your obsession with Jeff Sessions has led you to swallow a post hoc argument for a series of events.
If his investigation still moved forward, I’m not sure how he could claim that.
Of course this guy seems to want to claim a lot of things.
Is that like when Bill Clinton’s team bribed Monica Lewinsky to lie?
Or when other women were intimidated by threats of violence against them, family including children, and pets?
The worst part is that, while some of this was ideological bias, a lot of it was high-level bureaucrats bending over backwards to show how willing they were to break the law to support what they were sure would be the incoming administration of Clinton and her criminal associates.
How many other bureaucrats in how many other agencies were and are continuing to do the same?
Usual Mueller abuse of power, I’d wager.
In other words declaring you are innocent makes you guilty because you are suborning perjury from anyone who hears you declare your innocence
Right as always, FW.
I have no use for Sessions.
One of the things I like is that he frequently posts links and refers to Leftist articles because they buttress his point of view. When he gets criticism from the Left, he simply points to the article and notes that they are the ones who reached a particular conclusion based on their factual research...not him.
I love that...he "hoists them on their own petard"!
Indeed, your last sentence is one that I frequently wonder about. I was never a fan of the "swamp" characterization, but this entire affair has changed my view on it.
See my post right above this one with the link to the Dan Bongino show...the guy knows what he is talking about, and I have not found him to be wrong yet.
He is very upbeat, I contrast him to Mark Levin who is very knowledgeable, but whom I find to be a bit overly emotional for me due to the simple fact I feel my temper rising right along with his, which isn't good for me. I try to keep my anger about this on a short leash...:)
Exactly. When Rosenstein’s illegal involvement in the anti-Trump FISA warrant scandal surfaced, Sessions had a choice: side with Trump or side with Rosenstein.
Sessions very publicly chose Rosenstein. He has remained committed to that choice ever since—and it’s a disgrace.
Why single me out? The ranks of conservatives blaming Sessions for the unconstitutional, never-ending witch hunt grows by the day. Do you ever confront the vast array of conservatives who blame Sessions? Open your eyes: it’s a veritable army.
Mueller is not constrained by truth or the rule of law. He does whatever he likes, secure in the knowledge that the MSM and the vast, swampy Uniparty will back him to the hilt.
