The disgraced Florida sheriffs deputy who stayed outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as a killer stalked its halls has spent the 90 days since the massacre wondering why he failed to save lives, according to a report.
Its haunting, Scot Peterson said in a Washington Post report published Monday. Ive cut that day up a thousand ways with a million different what-if scenarios, but the bottom line is I was there to protect, and I lost 17.
Since the Valentines Day attack at the Parkland school where 17 people were killed and 17 more injured Peterson has lost his job with the Broward County Sheriffs Office, been dubbed the Coward of Broward in local media and been served with a lawsuit from a parent whose daughter died in the shooting.
According to the newspaper, he now spends most of his days hiding in the duplex he shares with his girlfriend, armed with a motion detector and a sheet covering his front door, replaying every minute of the shooting.
Hes rewatched surveillance footage, read witness statements and studied dozens of pages of documents, trying to figure out what happened.

An honorable thing to do would be to eat “it” because the blood is on his hands and he was a coward.
I think he lost the trailer when he retired.
No.
NO WAY!
His ‘job’—so to speak—was to see that his little criminal kiddie-poos in that school DID NOT get arrest records, no matter what.
No school-to-prison-pipeline for THEM, nosir!
He’s the type brave ahole cop that will act as a tough guy and give you hard time for having an out of date inspection sticker on your car especially if you a middle aged white guy in a suit and tie.
That comes to $8,666.00 per month. How does this coward possibly get by on that?
According to the WaPo piece, he says he could not tell where the gunshots were coming from, something that students and others present that day also said. The 911 calls that were coming in where students were telling dispatchers where the gunman was were being routed to the Coral Gables police department which used a different radio frequency, so he didn’t know about any of that.
He should’ve went looking for where they were coming from instead of standing in one place...Out of harm’s way...
He was there to stop such people.
One doesn’t have to voice condemnation of the shooter every time, that condemnation goes without saying.
So what you’re saying is you don’t get any virtue signalling points for condemning the shooter.
It’s one of the least attractive things about FR.
Come on. He stood for 4-5 minutes, right outside the building where shots were being fired and over a dozen were being murdered. And he allegedly didn’t have a clue where the shots were coming from?
Not buying it. No sale.

I spent about 2 seconds ..... you are a COWARD.
Get a different type of job, where no one really counts on you.
The Coward of Broward has regrets?
Imagine how the victims parents feel, buddy.
You know who would not have shirked?
An armed volunteer parent.
Tempted to say G - D the “educators” who continue to reject the obvious and immediate fix for the next 5, 10, 50 school shootings.
That’s not what I’m saying at all.
I know who did not shirk. Unarmed coach Aaron Feis. Unarmed and unarmored, he put his own body between the shooter and his students.
If he carried he, and perhaps a dozen students would still be alive today.
Arm the Aarons!
> Arm the Aarons!
amen
you're nothing but a coward, a nobody, destined to do nothing of importance in this life and stealing from the poor taxpayers for your undeserved pension.....
people like this little yellow belly make me sick...
Peterson has lost his job
He retired with a massive pension.
A man who places himself in a dangerous duty will never know how he will react until he faces that danger for real.
This man failed miserably.
