The disgraced Florida sheriff’s deputy who stayed outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as a killer stalked its halls has spent the 90 days since the massacre wondering why he failed to save lives, according to a report.
“It’s haunting,” Scot Peterson said in a Washington Post report published Monday. “I’ve cut that day up a thousand ways with a million different what-if scenarios, but the bottom line is I was there to protect, and I lost 17.”
Since the Valentine’s Day attack at the Parkland school — where 17 people were killed and 17 more injured — Peterson has lost his job with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, been dubbed the “Coward of Broward” in local media and been served with a lawsuit from a parent whose daughter died in the shooting.
According to the newspaper, he now spends most of his days hiding in the duplex he shares with his girlfriend, armed with a motion detector and a sheet covering his front door, replaying every minute of the shooting.
He’s rewatched surveillance footage, read witness statements and studied dozens of pages of documents, trying to figure out what happened.

The guy went through cop school, had sufficient hours at the range shooting at all sorts of targets, maybe even a devised copy of the FBI’s “Hogan’s Alley”. He knew his job. He knew his firearm and his capabilities.
However, paper doesn’t shoot back.
The man was paid to take the bullet for ‘the civilians’.
“I did this. I did that.”
The man was paid to shoot back.
He did NOT.
Many people go their entire life and never get the big test. Many people get the big test and rise above it to amazing heights. Former Deputy you got the big test and failed. Embrace the suck.
Things rot from the head down. Get rid of Israel and maybe the attitudes and character of his underlings will improve. Why the hell is Israel still employed?
HIS BILLFOLD isn’t sorry- When he was working, he made about $101,000 a year.
His PENSION he now gets pays him over $104,000 a year.
That is totally wrong.
Cowardice is sin. His includes the lives of 17 children. May it rest heavily upon him until he seeks the Lord.

Don’t worry sheriff, Hogg and his band of CNN Muppests are glad that you didn’t interfere. They’re all raking in the big bucks now and they haven’t even gone to college.
In some societies a person who failed so utterly in their duty would fall on their own sword.
I have one I’ll gladly donate this Peterson person. If I thought he’d do the right thing and make use of it, anyway.

Lots of disgusting virtue signalling on this thread. It’s a contest to see who hates him more, with little or no mention of the person who actually did the shooting.
